Either way - it's G4. It's XPlay...they suck at fairly reviewing any game whose company isn't shoving large amounts of cash and crack cocaine in front of the producers of the show.

The handicap and gay bashing jokes went waaay too far out of line this time.

Also - the "interview" they did was from four or five years ago.

At first I was uncertain, but thanks to this, I have arrived at my conclusion.

This place is one of the most humorless communities of which I've been a part.

I LOVE PPP and even practice other routines every so often and I still found this amusing. Inaccurate maybe, but still. Mazrim and MR are the only ones who seem to get it.

By the way, I found the paraplegic comment hilarious.

And I'll admit that I'm a little peeved at it, but I'm just going to sit this one out. I'm not going to be falling into this little trap of theirs where they bait and hook with half-assed reviews and then read the shittier letters that were sent in, making fans increasingly look bad.
It'll just be a spiral of stupidity with the fans of the game as the ones going down said spiral. I honestly would hate to be mocked more by that man-woman.
And what else can I say? You're giving them the attention that they want. After all, any attention is good attention to television shows. Our words won't matter in the fact of changing them, our words would be used against us in their show to get more viewers.
I'm all for sticking it to them and G4 can suck my plump ass, but until I see Konami or Japan going in there and annhilating them, I'm just going to move on with other things.

i sincerely doubt this will have any effect whatsoever. in fact, this is exactly what they were going for. g4 is the o'riley factor of the gaming world. no research, extreme views, all for ratings.

look at any anime game they review. then look at any comic game they review. the comic games's dick gets sucked and they kick the anime game(even if it IS superior, fuck ultimate spiderman) to the curb. i'll be wrighting a letter, about the increasingly racist, derrogotory and uninformed reviews, but i doubt it'll have any effect.


also, why diddn't this happen sooner?

They aren't THAT biased to give a decent game a crappy score just because they don't like the source material.

If they get enough angry letters, they're most likely going to do a review Guitar Freaks as "an utterly blatant Guitar Hero clone with worse music".

To them, it's like poking a feral dog through a metal cage with a stick. The dog gets pissy and starts making a lot of noise, and the poker gets a kick out of it. When the dog finally calms down, it gets poked again. And the people watching get to laugh at the dog.

It appears that we are falling into an endless spiral. The more noise we make, the more they'll try to piss us off. Let us listen to the wise words of Admiral Ackbar an not fall into this trap.

Apparently everyone is failing to see my point as well. I don't care if they give a game a bad review, beatmania U.S. sucked, PPP isn't a great franchise, whatever. But it DOES bother me that they don't even bother to at least give facts about the game while reviewing it, and it REALLY isn't hard to research things before going to press. They pretty much ignored the fact that beatmania has existed for the past (almost) 9 years in thier review for that, they fail to even explain what the point of ParaPara is when they do thier review for that, and when konami brings out Guitar Revolution, they're going to call it a complete ripoff of Guitar Hero with no reason to play it, because they don't care to be factual at all.

And as I stated before, it's NOT just bemani games, they do it with EVERYTHING. The writing staff for X-Play is insanely biased, almost as much as Tommy Tallarico was on Judgement Day. It's not good journalistic practice to do what they're doing, and when they're influencing such a wide audience, it kills my hope for the future of gaming as a whole. I've boycotted this channel personally for a LONG time, and not just because of X-Play, but because it's honestly a shitty TV channel, and I know there are people out there who are absolutely hardcore about the channel. And since that's the case, they should seriously be doing a better job with the reviews they're NOT getting paid to write (I.E. Madden, anything Sony).

edit: Also, PLEASE heed the "don't be stupid about it" warning in the first post if you contact them. I know they do things like this to rile up fans of different franchises, but calm, gathered responses do alot more than a blind "fuck you" sent thier way.

I didn't like the Beatmania review at ALL, even though the US version did suck. You just don't poke fun at the grandfather of all music games (even though I think Quest for Fame came out before).

Am I the only one that found the PPP review funny (minus the paraplegic thing). They poked fun at My Sweet Banana, but they didn't comment on the really dirty parts to the song. I thought it was funny that no one in the video did the para moves correctly, since it's not about just hitting the arrows. The kid playing the arcade machine didn't even make a valid attempt at the moves. The game does look cool when someone knows how to play it correctly.

After seeing this review a week ago, I plan on learning how to para the RIGHT way, and would like to at least be decent at it by the next Bemanifest.
