I'm deeply saddened by the changes at TechTV, I mean "G4" because they took TechTV over... I miss "The Screensavers", the original "Filter" and the other shows.

As I've seen many mention earlier, Spike TV Jr. indeed. I hate it. These reviews are blatently biased and I'm going to send them a very disheartening letter to them. =) Down with the shit. amen.

They're saying that because we actually have a non-standard PS2 controller (and everyone has one, seriously then we're losers (and given I am Loser BAIT, I find it grossly offensive when anyone calls ME that . So anyone who's thinking that BStyle guys are acting a little too harsh, think about the connotations X-Play have given in their reviews. Humourous? Perhaps. But calling us losers or paraplegics is pretty weak, too...

Someone please contact a KoA rep or something... This is just adding fuel to the fire -- having idiots thinking "omg I'm a dj look at me turn the scratch pad and act like a numbskull doing it!!11" on TV is worse than seeing said idiots nearly fuck up a $20,000 machine (oh yes, they got into deep crap for it).

alright, I'm not sure how many people actually emailed X-Play about this, but I did, and hopefully I did a little justice to us:

Dear X-Play,

I, like many other music simulation fans feel we've been robbed by your reviews of such games as Beatmania and ParaParaParadise. It seems that ever since the TechTV/G4 crossover, as well as the introduction to Guitar Hero, the reviews regarding any music games have always been looked down upon, and have been put in comparison to what Guitar Hero offers. I'm not here to verbally abuse X-Play for this, nor am I here to make this issue larger than it is. However, music simulation fans as well as myself have felt wronged by your "reviews." Yes, the reviews are opinionated and shouldn't be taken as anything more, but it seems like your reviews for Beatmania and ParaParaParadise were done with little to no investigation of the genre nor its fan-base. Beatmania has many of thousands of fans across the states, and those fans who have achieved an extremely reputable status within the community (I suggest taking a look at the members of www.bemanistyle.com for this information). I don't think that the one fan that was "interviewed" regarding ParaParaParadise was a fair judgment on how the community as a whole acts and operates.

Also, the review was nothing more than a space filler that no one on the show seemed to enjoy critiquing. If that's so, just don't do it. You've tainted the images of Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania, and ParaParaParadise players by your skits, which some are humorous, some more hurtful and sharp-edged making us seem like ignorant fan boys who are social outcasts. I beg to differ. Music simulation fans watch X-Play, and while these games do not necessarily cater to those who've never played in the genre, it does offer a viable fan service to those within the states that enjoy these types of games and were happy to see the American crossovers.

These games, whether X-Play chooses to accept it or not, are big hits in the arcade (both in America and Japan), and are what keeps many arcades a lot of times, especially in California, alive. Guitar Freaks (The better version of Guitar Hero), Drummania, Keyboardmania, Beatmania, ParaParaParadise, Pop'n Music, Dance Dance Revolution, In The Groove, and the many others not listed gets people out of the house, bringing them together for fun party game competition and musical enjoyment.

I don't expect this letter to be taken seriously, or to even be reviewed for that matter (I'd be surprised if it got any attention), but the fact that we are here (and mostly not queer), should give reason to take the reviews on a more positive and serious note, looking into the number of fans the genre has, and seeing that we're just as strong as the Halo fans except without special media attention. We'll always be watching the show, we just hope that the amount of time put into reviewing the game and getting the real information and statistics might get as much attention as any other game the staff is excited to review.

If they do respond, I'll be surprised. What are they gonna have to say to a bunch of random rhythm gamers complaining/whining about insensitivity? And yes, that's what it will look like. That's the first thing I wanted to do after hearing their review of beatmania US, and hell, I did it. And seeing the PPP review makes me want to do it again. So I probably will. But guys, don't let the idea that "this is exactly what they want" keep you from complaining about this. Big fucking deal if this is what they want. Whether you want to admit it or not, PPP DOES look silly to most people (and yes, I play whenever i'm near a machine). Still, it gives them no right no make paraplegic jokes or make biased, unresearched reviews. Complain to enough/the right people and maybe we can do something. If not, eh we tried, no?

honestly, they must have some sort of grudge against Bemani games becuase they know they are completely shitty at them when trying to "review" them.

i dont see why to hate a music game like beatmania, Para Para or DDR or anything. most of their music game reviews seem more like 3 minutes of them making fun of the Bemani community while making asses about themselves.
