I wonder what the songlist will look like. I mean all the anime songs are out, and if the song wast written in kanji its out. I think Konami (based on what they did w/ BMUS) is gonna take older songs alot. And mix it with a few crossovers. I'm thinking songlist compilation from 5th and lower.

Could've sworn I saw "SINCE U BEEN GONE" at one point.

...Not on these songlists.

I think that if the fan reaction to Beatmania is any indication then pulling largely from the older song pool would be kind of foolish. I think that if anything they would pull popular guitar-based songs from other Bemani series. I honestly could totally see Daikenkai being on it, seeing as it appears to be a popular song in DDR. I could see Breakdown as well, but it probably has much less of a chance over here.

Having never played Guitar Freaks, most of this post was pulled out of my ass. But I believe it has some merit.

As much as I like Bemani, I don't see Guitar Revolution selling as well as Guitar Hero and especially not as well as Guitar Hero II.

Unfortunaetly, i have to agree with you. Americans are a stubborn bunch, ESPECIALLY the crappy mainstream video game media (cough cough G4 Xplay AttackoftheShow various gaming websites), and they're all gonna pile on a potential GF release as too hard, a "ripoff" (ugh, it's like a knife to the heart, knowing the truth and unable to do anything about- I wish i had a cable video game review show), and the interface is subpar. Not to mention the music, which I myself prefer J-Rock over all the antiquated rock song covers they got in GH. (when 90 percent of the songs in there are older than me, and having grown up on DDR and pop'n msic, well, I'm not really their target audience, am i?)

I have GH. I enjoy it very much. My girlfriend loves it. But i know the originator. I know who got this whole music-sim bizness going. And i will always be indebted to Konami for the quality of products they've released. But this looks like one war they're not going to succeed, because this time the other side has some really serious ammo and brain dead allies with mucho clout and influence in the industry...

I hate to say it, but didn't we already see Guitar Freaks US coming? I mean hello - they had Guitar Freaks V2 at E3. I even said it was likely to happen, to compete with Red Octane.

The only way I think Konami can potentially win the battle against RO with this is to also release Drummania in the US (Just call it Percussion Revolution or something) and have it co-incide with the release of Guitar Revolution.

I think if Konami release Drummania over here before anyone else gets the genius idea to release a drum rhythm game (That stupid MTV arcade game DOES NOT COUNT), they can probably one up RO with it. It'd be a good strategic move.

Heck, take those two games and couple them with a release of Karaoke Revolution and you've got yourself a pretty good marketing point. Too bad you can't session multiple PS2s together in the same room. Otherwise Konami could advertise them all in one ad and say "Form your own rock band with Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Revolution and Percussion Revolution"

I smell it too, and I will be fighting on the bemani side. And I will be sure to send emails and letters to G4's Attack of the show or X-play when the call this a rip off and review it crappy

Well, on top of V2 being at E3, there's a very little known fact from several years ago. Right after DDR came out stateside for the PS1, a release date for Guitar Freaks to hit the U.S. PS1 popped up, March of 2001. I remember preordering it, and then being severely dissapointed 3 months later when it was canceled and I had to get my money back.

The guitar sim thing has been on KOA's mind for a while, and to be quite honest, I think the only reason that "Guitar Revolution" didn't come out before beatmania did, is because of the American bemani fanbase. Everyone on the forums was clamoring for beatmania, so that's what we got. Otherwise I'm sure KOJ would've thrown a U.S. Guitar Freaks at us first.

They're going to need a fairly large amount of US licenses.

Fairly large is an understatement. I honestly would be more interested in how Guitar Hero 2 will do than Guitar Rev. I suppose if this US release had Tocatta and Agnus Dei then I might be impressed, but I love the song choice in Guitar Hero over generic songs I can't read the name of.

I meant to win the Guitar Hero crowd to "Guitar Revolution."

I'm assuming "Party Hard" will be on the [first] US release.

That's what they said.

They could have just lied to everyone just to keep everyone off their backs so they could get the ball rolling on the project.

Bungie did that with Halo 3 and like 6 months later, OH SHIT it was announced.

So... you're hoping it's not another Karaoke Revolution, basically... what with the controller support.

Should be supported, I mean it's PS2 controller, not something that plugs into USB... right?

well what i mean is if they wanted to make it more "challanging" by putting more buttons on the frets, i may never be able to play on a broom/guitar ever
