Default New Supernova CS Info

Thanks to Nestlekwik of blogcritics.com we have some new details on the PS2 version of Supernova. Please note that this information comes from the upcoming UK release (as he states in the article) and may not reflect upon the North American release.

Quote:
First off - all of this info is taken from the Dancing Stage version of SuperNOVA. While it is highly likely the Konami originals will make an appearance in the U.S. version, there is absolutely no guarantee that are for sure. This info is just a possible lead on more songs that are highly probable to be included in our release.

Screens indicated the points system and the shop is returning to this version in a fashion completely indentical to Extreme 2/Strike. All gameplay screenshots feature the points counter exactly as in E2/Strike and the results screen and shop holds the same points total counter.

And of course the shop is making a return for players to buy more songs and other game features. Unlike in E2, there are no tabs to select between options such as music, character outfits, nonstop courses, etc., so at this point there is no indication what exactly is available outside of music. But the screenshot gives a look at the song purchase menu, which is exactly similar to E2 except in the SuperNOVA color scheme. Most notable on the screenshot are six songs yet to be revealed for a home version of SuperNOVA.

NOW REMEMBER - the capture is from Dancing Stage SuperNOVA and there is no 100% guarantee we'll see these in the U.S. release but they are, in my opinion, very probable.

Gekkou Chou by Asaki
Kagerow (Dragonfly) by Des-Row
Blue Impulse (For DDR/Extreme) by Naoki feat. YUKI Graduation by BeForU
IFuturelist (DDR version) by Akira Yamaoka
Ki-Se-Ki (DDR Edit) by BeForU

I also spotted the song No. 13, but this was already listed by a previous Bemanistyle news item.

There were more songs scheduled in a news release by Konami but these are licensed tracks and while they are known names, I don't believe these will make it to the U.S. version.

Romeo by Basement Jaxx
Hoodie by Lady Sovereign
Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim
Take on Me by A-ha

The release states the above songs will come with their respective music videos included. Screen shots showed one more game play segment with a Japanese female pop group that I'm 90% certain is BeForU - it seemed upbeat, so probably Ki-Se-Ki. So there may be other music video inclusions exlusive to the home versions.

Eye Toy support was also named for the Dancing Stage version and I can't recall whether it has for the U.S. version or not. If it wasn't, then I don't really see it being omitted from the U.S. version.

Even further to the east, the Japanese version is ready to make a showing at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Konami of Japan has placed a splash page teaser announcing the game for showing Sept. 22-24 at the annual event. The splash shows a few screenshots with one featuring the song selection wheel. From what I can make out, here are songs listed on the pic:

Baby's Tears by Miki Roberts
My Only Shining Star NAOKI feat. Beck Lucinda
Flowers by Terra
Flow (True Mix) by Scotty D. Revisits U1
MOONSTER by ???? (I can't make it out)

There is also one more song at the bottom of the song wheel that I just can't make out.

My Only Shining Star and Flow (True Mix) were already mentioned for the U.S. release in a former Bemanistyle news item. I suppose it's possible the other songs could make it to the U.S. version, but there's nothing to evidence that at this point.

I'm not sure what MOONSTER is - if it's a song from a recent Japanese Bemani game, help me out with this one.
We'll have more information as it becomes available to us.

SuperNOVA will have the same mode with a different skin and more details to it. Going with the title of the mix, SuperNOVA, it has a space/planetary theme and is called "Stellar Master Mode." You go inbetween what looks to be planets instead just the numbered/lettered squares from Extreme 2.

I'll have pics of it before the end of the night.

Just gotta correct and clear up some stuff here real quick...

Baby's Tears by Miki Roberts
Baby's Tears (I can't read the stuff contained within the parenthesis) / KOSAKA RIYU

This is either the Japanese language version of Baby's Tears credited to KOSAKA RIYU instead of alter ego MIKI ROBERTS, or it's a remix of the Japanese language version of Baby's Tears which would be credited to KOSAKA RIYU as well.

Look close at the screenshot. Not only is the name of the song clearly longer than the short 'Baby's Tears'. The artist is also four blurred characters that would make out Riyu's name in Japanese.

There are actually two of them...

PEACE(^^)v
TRUE LOVE

Look closely, you'll see them.

I'm a nerd.

mission mode=instant fail.

i guess this game isn't going to bee TOO bad if the songs are good and the steps actually go with the songs. i'm going to be PISSED if you actually have to play through mission mode to unlock songs.

the best unlock system was in MAX2(american). the points idea form EX2 wasn't too bad, but you had to do WAY too much to unlock sismple songs. they should have the credits system from EX2 and the solid unlock system from MAX2.

you play 5 songs to unlock Ki-Si-Ki in the shop, then accumulate 5000 credits to buy it for play.

It looks like Baby's Tears (日本語バージョン) (Japanese Version). You can see the bottom part of 本 in the picture.

Mission Mode unlocked everything for me in hours. The points system makes it longer.

Thanks guys. After much, much, much eye straining I finally was able to get Peace with the help of my girlfriend. I guess I did notice the additions after Baby's Tears but I couldn't remember if they were in the arcade version or not.

But I'm still trying to get the one song finalized (MOONSTER). I've determined that the first O is probably a D, making it MDONSTER. After even more eye straining, the ER might even be CA. I'm not making any leeway on it yet and if anyone else knows what it is, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good eye on True Love too.

Here's that Stellar Master Mode:

They look like Easter eggs ... -_-

As a brief update, here is a link to the article that was officially published:

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/09/18/223337.php

It doesn't detail too much more than what I posted here. I updated on the different game modes, arcade edits and updated what I didn't know before with appropriate credit to the members who helped me out here.

Also, there are three more screenshots for Dancing Stage SuperNOVA in the article - one in-game, one for the shop and one of the game mode selection screen.

Interesting ...

Thanks for that. I knew it had to be BeForU but I don't follow them enough to identify their vids (and most of their music for that matter).

Geez. At this rate, we might know all of the possible unlocks before the games are even released ...

You need to point out some things:

Shop screen may lack tabs but from the looks of it, a mere press to the left or right will change the category. Also note the character on the lower-left corner.

Also...where can we see the full size?! That's not fair!

I think of it this way:

Look how much of an improvement Dance Master mode was over Extreme US' mission mode.

I'm hoping for something similar in that vein. (Besides, some of us just broke the system to get all our DP to unlock things.)

That's an obvious one.
