Another PS2 bemani release is on the radar and as usual, play-asia.com has started letting people get prepared for it. pop'n music 13 CARNIVAL is slated for a late September release, and play-asia is taking preorders on the regular edition for $64.90. They'll also be taking preorders on the Limited Edition as soon as they're available.
On top of that, they're holding another one of their awesome seasonal contest/sales. This time around they have over 3000 items discounted across the entire catalog, and are giving away a load of next gen goodies such as a 60 gig Playstation 3 (JP) and Nintendo Wii package. The sale isn't without it's bemani items either. beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED CS is now only $49.90 and beatmania IIDX 9th style is only $39.90!
There are plenty of other items on sale, so check out the list and join in on the winning!
Also, Bowl-Manifest 2006 is happening at TGA right now. The staff here at bemanistyle hopes that everyone in attendance is having a great time, and we wish everyone a safe trip back after the festivities. Unfortunately none of us could attend due to scheduling conflicts, but we know that's not stopping any of you from enjoying the event to the fullest! [update 7/10/06] This just in: Konami has patented "Guitar Revolution". ( Check out the story on 1up.com) could this be even more of a sign that we're gonna see U.S. Guitar Freaks releases than the fact that V2 was at E3? We really can't be sure at this point, but if Konami does have something up thier collective sleeves, I'm sure we'll be seeing more info on it soon.

Special guest or not, I do have personal obligations that take precedence. I would have loved to be there for the weekend, but unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be this time around.

Now they're are going to have a hard time getting people to buy this one because of Guitar Hero. It's a little too late to release Guitar Freaks (or Guitar Revolution as they call it) over here because of that. I think they should focus on releasing Drummania or Pop'n Music over here before someone makes something simular, like what happened with GuitarHero. http://www.bemanistyle.com/forum/ima...lies/frown.gif

If GuitarFreaks gets released stateside good ol' X-Play and other mainstream video game jackasses will pass it off as a GH ripoff cuz of the difficulty and music style...groan...

Also, they have to offer a version that is sans-guitar and the option to remap your buttons!

Total Tokens: 3,007,051.94 Donate Tokens | Guitar Freaks has always struck me as highly unforgiving, and nothing I've seen from V has changed that. It's incredibly easy to fail, especially at the level you need to set for any of your scores to count. That, and raw Japanese-ness of a lot of the music, are probably going to be much bigger obstacles than any GH-related "ripoff" prejudice.
I still think this has a chance, definitely more than Beatmania. I mean, c'mon, it's guitar. What could be more mainstream? And the music, on the whole, is far more familiar to our tastes than any other line, even DDR (cf. Right On Time, Silly Girl, or Summertime Cruisin' to Wild Rush, Gradiusic Cyber, Speed Over Beethoven, or Maximizer).
If they put in some beginner-helping feature a la Easy, that could clinch it.
PM 13...geez, I'm barely a third of the way through 12 at this point. I gotta get away from Dynasty Warriors more often.

as for guitar "revolution" I have no faith in it coming to america... sadly nubs will say it is a clone of guitar hero, while our real bemani fans will picks it up asap... but i dont think thatll be enough...
also I enjoy the difficulty of it... its about precise strumming timing rather than an open as a fat banyard timing in guitar hero... i mean im about at a 50-60 range (yes Jimmy Weckyl still rape me) so I can see what their trying to do with the harder songs... and its meant to be defeated WITH PRACTICE, unlike guitar hero which is easy to hard in one party...
(funny part is I love gh)
If anything... I think pop'n has the best chance... but then again, the most popular in japan dosent apply to the american market...
