anyway what about all the regular 3rd party controllers, are they all under this same thing?

But come on guys Guitar Hero is the father of all music games we know every game that has music is just a ripoff of Guitar Hero

I think RO just let their popularity from GH get to their heads.

Haha, i just sent them an extremely angry e-mail about them not giving any credit to Konami for blatantly ripping off Guitar Freaks. I have a question though, now that GF will be on it's way here, i heard konami got all these united states patents. What do they mean exactly? Does this mean RO can't release any more GH games? Or..?

Yes, but they want to be more vigilant than Konami. Konami is a Japanese based company that shows limited interest in the American musical market. Red Octane likely wants to oversee better quality control.

If I recall (and I may be wrong on this, someone correct me if I am), that's the reason about 99% of controllers for consoles tend to have stupidly useless features like turbo buttons or whatever "extra" is put into them, so that you can't just say "THIS IS A CHEAP KNOCKOFF CUTTING INTO OUR PROFITS" in court.

Yeesh, this past year it seems like everybody's been suing everybody. I already disliked Guitar Hero, but now I wanna see the sequels fail even more cause of this BS move coming from a company who made so much money by making 3rd party products for a music game themselves.

sort of makes me hate RO. pretty crazy thing to do. almost makes me reconsider buying gh 2, chances were low anyway. lots of drama on bemanistyle lately. konami should sue, but its not like their arcade cabs were defiled or anything. lol irony etc.

THIS is why I hate RedOctane and (partially) Roxor. They rip off a music game and add a few fancy songs and higher difficulties, and THEY'RE suing people who might cut into their enormous, 80-tons-of-platinum profits.
