[Problem] Thread vs Mod vs me.

OK, I have a "problem" with a thread I tried to create in the Latin & South Americas forum. It's the well-known "What are you listening to?" thread, but in Spanish (since many Latin and South American users prefer that kind of threads in their own language... it was called "Qué estas escuchando ahora?").
The story goes as follows (comments between brackets):

1.- I simply created it, then it lasted 2 posts before the moderator in charge (Asato) closed it because "it caused to earn tokens in a bad way".

2.- Then, I sent Asato a PM with the following message (Note: all the PMs quoted here were originally in Spanish):

You closed the "Qué estás escuchando ahora" thread, when there are threads like "Random Bemani Chat", that causes even more to earn tokens in a bad way? O.o

Can you tell me what's the matter, please? Thanks in advance.

3.- She replied with...

I closed the thread since it can cause "token whoring", that's 'to post many times just to earn tokens'. I don't see in 'Random Bemani Chat' many difficulties of leading to that since it talks about a specific theme (Bemani) and, plus, very few people participate on it.

4.- Then I sent...

Hm, maybe.
For a moment I thought in "autoestablish" rules in the thread to avoid precisely the Token Whoring (something that I know pretty well with certain kinds of users... I'm a moderator in the Stepmania forum in DDR.CL), but then I told myself "bleh, why?" since as I've seen, at least here in the regional forum there aren't "Pokémon Users" [read note below] like where I moderate.

But, talking very seriously, I don't see too much problem in the thread I created.... I've seen that same thread in many forums and none of them has problems, since if it's with established rules the users are warned of what will happen to them if they begin to be like "ROFL I like xD".

5.- After that PM I sent her, I didn't have any notice of Asato. No life signs, no posts, and not a single word in reply to that last PM. That was in April 18th

6.- I found out that there's an identical thread in Media Discussion (but obviously in English), where even moderators, Staff members, etc post in it (meaning that there's nothing wrong with a thread like that) so then I created the thread again (in May 10th), but with 2 important rules, meant to avoid completely the Token Whoring:

-In the thread shall be posted ONLY MUSIC
-ONLY ONE CONSECUTIVE POST PER USER.

And, as a suggetion. that it'd be advisable to write a comment about the song itself.

7.- Again, it lasted only 2 posts before that, now, Kyosuke Kagami closed it again (with the reason that "Asato didn't like the previous one")

8.- I sent Kyosuke the following PM (the same I mentioned in #6)...

Please, Kyosuke, could you tell me what's wrong in the thread of "what are you listening at?" ? :s

As I said in the 1st post, there's the same thread (but in english) here in Bemanistyle and nobody has closed or complained about it :s

I even took the time to establish the 2 mini-rules precisely to avoid the tokenwhoring:

-The first has implied that "post must be with content", not anything that they're hearing (since there's always the typical idiot that says "I'm hearing the air conditioning noise" or "I'm hearing cars passing by next to the office"...)

-The second, in my opinion, is the one that implies the great limitation for the tokenwhoring: that if someone posted, he/she must wait that someone else posts to then post again, or else simply has to edit the post (something for what, as far as I know, doesn't earn extra tokens...)

Please, check well the situation. That thread is something that I've seen working pretty well in other forums and in general the users behave correctly...

If you want, I promise that if I see by myself that the situation turns bad, I'll ask personally the thread to be closed.

I wouldn't have any problem and I'd keep it open.

BUT Latin & South Americas is much more under Asato's care. I think it's her who you have to talk with.

I sent her a PM in April 18th asking her what was the matter. At this time she still doesn't give me a reply... furthermore, I haven't seen her connected and not a single post from her since then O.o

Hm, would be too much asking that you reopened it and we'd wait to see what Asato thinks about it (when she connects) now that I'm trying for it to not be a Tokenwhoring generator? ;_;

I didn't receive a reply from Kyosuke after that.

11.- I received a THREE MONTH warning from Asato, with the following message:

I think that we had talked about this. Not because it's done in other forums it means that it would be done here too.

12.- I finally replied with...

I talked with Kyosuke Kagami about the matter... but told me that you have more power here that him (or it's her?)... bleh.

I'll quote the most important part of what I told [him/her]:

Defending the fact that it would be in another place, even Staff members post there O.o

If even with those rules I stated, you think that the thing doesn't go well, could you tell me what's wrong?? I say, to know what did I do wrong to deserve the warning <.<

By the way, I remember that we haven't talked specifically about this. Furthermore, in April 14th I sent you a PM, that to this date you still don't reply... I hope that at least you take the time to answer this one.

Can someone explain me what's the big problem with that specific thread in a regional forum? I know I risked a warning/infraction with creating the thread again, but with those "rules" it was very different from the original one

I just wanted to point out that Meowth (at least on the TV series) can speak fluently and in full sentences. Also, some pokémon don't speak at all, but talk with their minds (Mew/Mewtwo). I'm just kidding around though, I know what you mean.


I don't really see what the problem is, since there is a similar topic in general discussion. I know why you would want to have one on your regional board, since some of the music you listen to, people from USA like me have probably never heard of it. Either that or you just want the topic to be in Spanish which I can also understand. I don't see how it's tokenwhoring since you'd be posting about the topic when you post what song you are listening to, as long as, like your rule states, you don't post more than once in a row.

I think it's very good that other users make posts [sic] of that kind on other forums. However, the M&S America forums distinguish themselves for the enormous amount of "n00bs' that post any bullshit. It's more than proven that things like that cannot be trusted to Latin American users, among which there are the most spammers of the site.

Please, don't insist opening more threads of this kind, because I'll continue closing them.

With that explanation, I still cannot find WHAT'S wrong. Again, with those rules, spam would be seriously controlled <.<

Problems with other people isn't something we need publically announced. Take it up in PM and LEAVE it there. If you can't get it resolved, take it up with eddie or keith.
