Default 3-player session?

Between us, me and my friends have 2 GF controllers and a DM controller. How do we play triple session? I assume the only way is a ps2 multitap, but I thought I'd ask in case there's a different solution.
Until the DM controller arrived, we guessed it would go into a USB port but no leads for that came with it, and plugging it in hopefully using a USB->PS2 adapter didn't work.
Is a multitap the only way?

The two GF controllers go in the two PS2 ports and the drumset goes into the USB port...

If you had read his entire post you would have discovered that obviously he's referring to the KOC drum set which uses a regular PS2 plug. I'm assuming it works with a multitap, although I've never tried it myself.

hmmm.. I have a DTX which is plugged into USB port of PS2 and a GF controller. Strange, to be able play the session mode (a drum and a guitar), the GF controller must be plugged into player 2 port even though the player 1 port is empty, otherwise, the GF controller is recognized as drum controller..
maybe the player1 port is only for drum and although we have drum controller plugged into USB port, still we need multitap for playing 3 people of session?
any experience yet?
i tried on masterpiece silver btw, never try on V or GF4DM3 yet..

It's like this. If you have a USB drum then you don't need a multitap. Just use the USB slot for the drum and the PS2 slots for the guitars. If you are all using KOC, then you'll need a multitap. Drum in Slot 1, GF1 in Slot 2, and GF2 in Slot 3.

Are you sure about no-multitap Session with a USB drumset? You can't do 2-player session with the guitar plugged into port 1 (has to be in port 2 if you have a USB drumset), but I haven't tried with 2 guitars and a USB drumset.

Yeah I've experienced this problem as well. I'll try the multitap and get back to you.

Hey, don't you need a widescreen TV for 3 way session? Or is that if you want to play it with the video?

I think it'll just be smooshed horizontally -- there's no way the game can tell whether you have a widescreen TV or not.

Ok. Some facts.

1. If you want Drum+2 Guitar session fun you MUST have a multitap, USB drum or no USB drum. In session mode, the 1up port is reserved for drums alone, and the manual also shows this (though to be fair doesn't mention 2 guitarss + USB). To my knowledge, this has not changed with either V or Masterpiece Silver.

2. You don't need a widescreen TV to play 3-player session (but it helps).

uhhhhhhh

Wrong game? This is GF/DM. Two guitar players and a drum player. You've always been able to do that.
