Save up for a Yamaha DTXplorer from eBay.

This is probably the cheapest you can get and still get a somewhat arcade feel. The cheaper drumsets are very different, and are a waste of money.

If you're strapped for cash, and you want to get into drummania without purchasing a drum set that costs hundreds of dollars, the KOC is actually pretty decent. The drum heads on the KOC are all very responsive; however, the bass pedal (read: sensor attached to a piece of foam a la DDR mat) is absolutely horrible. You can find a replacement pedal (sustain pedal and 1/4" to RCA jack converter) at your local Radio Shack, or build an incline and tape the pedal down to it.

If you have the money, by all means buy a DTXplorer, and have something that you can actually practice with.

It's not just about the sensors. It's also about the freedom to position the pads in a way that makes sense. With the KOC, all the drum pads are on the same plane. This might be fine for easier songs, but as you get better and go after faster songs, you'll appreciate having something like a DTXplorer with full size pads and correct relative spacing. And if you're going for arcade feel, you can get if with a DTXplorer, but not with a KOC.

yea I see what you mean, I think I am going to start to save up for that DTXplorer. I was wanting to play the drums for real so it works out for DM and for other pratice as well
