Marketplace Rating: 0 | hm? Yamaha DTX series is way better than konami's official controller. Even konami itself recommend us to use DTXplorer or DTXpress III for arcade style controller ^^
yeah, the best controller i think. Safe? pretty safe i think, but need to "save" some bucks :P

If so, the whole point of this thread is to find one that's better than that. Which there aren't any made by Konami.

I've been looking for an affordable kit that I can use with the CS Drummania games and DTXmania on my PC for awhile now and I might get this one.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Get an Ion drumset; it works with drummania Ps2 (dunno about dtx), is actually BETTER than a DTXpress for DM, and only costs around 300 bucks.
People tout the DTXpress as being "omg amazing" but in reality, it fucking sucks for DM. why?
Because the damn thing is so sensitive that unless you soundproof your walls with stuff that kills echo, and even then probably not, almost every song causes the DTXpress to "double" and even "triple" hit stuff due to sound vibrations or just vibrations on the set itself.
I have never been able to pass anything above a 60 on a dtxpress because of this, i've tried three dtxpresses, one in indiana, one in los angeles, and one in stockton, one in a large room, one in a small one, and one in a medium one, all three had sound/physical vibration problems, all were brand new.
On the arcade, or on the Ion, I can pass 80's with ease.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | sorry deebbluevise, but i think compared to DTXplorer or DTXpress III (i dunno bout which DTXpress youre talking bout, maybe the old one?) , that ION drumkit, or called BAFO, or Drumxtreme, or Pacific Digital isnt that good.
They made from a hard plastic, covered by hard rubber that is very noisy.
About the very sensitive DTXpress series, you can always adjust their sensitivity. And you can compare the quality between those ION/BAFO/PD with Yamaha's. The size is smaller too.
Im sorry but I can tell because I ever have all of em, I sold my Drumxtreme (or ION/BAFO/PD). FYI yes, ION can be used with DTXmania, but still I prefer DTXplorer/DTXpress.
Im not saying youre wrong mate, but everyone has their own opinion bout something. I just talking bout my opinion. Im the one who has been upgraded from topway controller to DrumXtreme(ION/BAFO/PD) and have been regret, then buy the DTXplorer, sold my DrumXtreme.
from my point of view :
KOC : 3/10
Drumxtreme (or called ION/Bafo/PD somewhere) : 6/10
Arcade pads : 9/10
Yamaha DTX series : 9.5/10

Marketplace Rating: 0 | My opinion (which may differ from other peoples...):
Arcade is the best. There's nothing that is up to the 100% experience of a good DM machine. We all learned playing and got used to how the DM machine is.
I had a DTXPress II and it was alright. I originally got the set mostly for DM, but then I shifted my focus into playing real drums which I ended up doing a LOT more than DM. I personally think the module for the DTXPress (at least for mine) was confusing. But then I had no one tell me how to use it, and I didn't read the manual. So I never adjusted the sensitivities or anything, but I didn't have that big a problem with it. It was nice.
I recently upgraded to a Roland TD-3KW (TD-3SW) and it's sooo nice. I prefer this over the DTX that I had. The mesh pad wonderfully simluates a real snare head, hell Remo made the mesh head with real bounce. Full cymbals than the half cymbals on the DTX series. One gripe though, is that with the hi hat, you have to adjust it a lot so that it's really close to the snare just like the DM arcade setup. This is because in the UX-16 adapter with DM it registers rim shots on the hi-hat as misses, so you have to it on the top than on the side, but once you get to it it's better than hitting the regular pad as a hi-hat pad anyway. The hi-hat pad is a cymbal pad, so it actually looks like a real hi-hat.
The Roland also sounds a loooooot better in acoustic drumming than the DTXPress II. Now granted I never messed with the settings that much, but the Roland is more sensitive and has better sounds. It kinda actually sounds like a real kit. And it also is easier to play and feels like a real set more than the DTX series. Well unless you get the special or upgraded kits.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I've only played at arcade, but I would rate it something like this
KOC: 3/10
Arcade: 6/10
DTX: 10/10
Why?
Crosshand. The arcade hihat is so incredibly low that I literally have to cross my wrists and angle my right stick if I want to crosshand without hitting myself. The KOC will be even lower.
The DTX, on the other hand, has the hihat nice and hi like it should be :x

Marketplace Rating: 0 | xtine is right, the sensitivity can be adjusted. I was having problems with the low tom being activated just through vibrations - then navfn took 15 seconds to decrease the pad's sensitivity. Problem gone. And it was amazing. I had a lot of problems "finding" the drums, but I'm sure that would've gone away with time. When I was able to find the drums, I was able to nail a lot of rolls that would've given me trouble on a real DM set, simply because of how clean the impact was and was picked up.
Really hard to say if I would prefer it to a DM setup . . . probably not, once you include everything like having that awesome system/display and being able to session with a GF machine. But it's still an awesome device that I'd seriously consider getting if I had any space at all at my place. ;x

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Yeah, if you have a DTX, you've got to pay attention to the reject settings. You can do Self Reject so pads don't register extra double-taps (necessary for cymbal pads, I've found), Specific Reject so neighboring pads (i.e. snare and hi-hat) don't trigger each other when hit due to vibrations, and things like that. Doing specific rejects between the hi-hat/snare and hi-tom/lo-tom have been VERY important for me because without them I would see tons of misfires.
It pays to read the manual

I'm just starting, but I want something that will still be good, but isn't ASC and isn't Topway. Is the ION better or is DD-505 better? I like the placement on the 505 but I've heard ION is good.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | hmm never heard bout that YokiDD502, but i think its very cheap with price less than $100.. the ION one will be 4 times more expensive.
and that DD502 already have midi output.. judge from its pict, its a nice full size drumset with the cheap price, but i dont know bout the quality..
ION doesnt come with real pedal, only a trigger pedal though.
anyone have this drumset? give the review please, i just want to know.
Im so curious, with the price only 1/4 of ION/Bafo/PD but looks like has better rack stand, better pedals, better cymbal, hihat, ride.. sounds WOW!

Marketplace Rating: 1 | dtx is pretty darn good. Around 25 in trigger sensitivity is a good range: it's just about enough to sense slight hits that a normal DM machine wouldn't pick up (pad misses, I'd like to sometimes call them :P), yet not weak enough to take the echo triggers. As for the positioning, I need a 3d picture with dimentions to get those absolutely right. Also a tv mounted about 3 feet above the ground would be nice.
Still, the DM machine is #1 me. Although if I had a double bass accessory, I may quickly change my mind. XD

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I would say DTXpress III although it's kinda expensive it's the best out there. besides the fact that it's considered an actual drumset. I love mine.
other ones didn't last me too long I had a top way that lasted me about a week. so after that I never bothered to buy any other.
