They made from a hard plastic, covered by hard rubber that is very noisy. | Just how loud are the pads when you hit them?

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I have the ION set and have never had a problem with the kit registering a hit EVER. That being said you have to buy the Yamaha USB midi converter, the pads are slightly different shaped than the arcade, and yes, it is a little noisy, not too bad though. That being said its a steal if you want to play drummania on an arcade controller for only $250.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | there will be no prob bout sensitivity or hit registry issue, only the noisy pad that will quite disturbing. umm maybe sounds like someone knocking the door repeatly.
but if you can get it with a special cheap price, and want a better controller than konami's ASC, i think it will be good enough.
if you can save much bucks more, you should saving and be patient, the time will come, an arcade in your home buy a yamaha DTX
cause after you buy that ION, youll happy for months, and than you will really want to upgrade. Im one of the DM controller victims T_T.
only an opinion, decision is yours
pros:
+cheap
+better than KOC
+good sensitivity
+bout 70% arcade feel
cons:
-noisy pads
-a lit smaller than arcade
-its nothing compare to Yamaha DTX or Roland V series

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I'm pretty sure the "noise" issue can be rectified by replacing the hard plastic pads with probably practice pads and doing some DIY-rewiring? I've never seen an ION set before, let alone figure out how it works, so that's the solution I might suggest...

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Considering how much of a beginner I am at DM, I might not really have any problem with using an ION for a while. Once again, the price is right, but I have to remind myself that especially when it comes to electronics, you get what you pay for.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | Just nabbed a Yamaha UX16 cable on eBay for $29 shipped, which was about the cheapest I could find. (Buy It Now is fun. )
Hopefully I'll be able to pick up an ION kit sometime next week. All I have to do at this point is save up. :3
EDIT: October 14th!?
Shit D:

Just how loud are the pads when you hit them? | OMG thank you so much for letting me know about this. I've been wanting to get a drummania controller (the konami one because I cant afford the dti express ones) and I searched everywhere for it. P-A has been on back order for quite some time now and ebay doesnt have any sellers. So I'm considering buying this for a decent price.
If what you people say is true about the noisy factor, I don't mind. I only play GF/DM in the daytime anyway.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I chickened out upon actually seeing it. The local Target had 3+ in stock and man that box looked small.. 3'x1'x1'
I think I'd rather hold off in order to hear the reviews from all of you who just purchased/are going to purchase one, and just pay an extra $50.
So to all those about to rock, ..... I want some fuggin' reviews of the ION!

Marketplace Rating: 5 | I figured out how to make it work before Saturday's end, so I'll be sure to let you know how it works. I pretty much know what I'm gonna be doing as soon as my UX16 gets here.
And in the meantime I have a GH controller to mod. :3

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I have an ION kit (I worked at Target when I bought it, so it was a good deal) but found it was too noisy to play in my cramped apartment. Alas, I gave up on it simply because I couldn't afford to get yelled at by all the neighbors. What Darkhorse and Shin-Arudo say is true about the pads: excellent response, lots of noise.
So if anyone is interested, I'm selling my ION kit. It's been used probably about 12 times before I realized I couldn't do anything about the noise) and I'm in a financial pinch right now. Everything is in perfect working order still, everything included except the original box and the original sticks (which were incredibly cheap, so I just replaced them). I'll part with it for $100 to anyone who wants to pick it up.
I don't mean to hijack the thread; I figure it's a valid response since so many people here are talking about purchasing them.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I just went to my local Target and picked one up. I was going to stop by another place and grab the midi to usb cord too, but wasn't completely sure which one it was. I decided to just get it tomorrow, and set up the drum set today. However, once I opened the box and started taking everything out, I realized that there was no midi controller. There was a BOX for the controller, but nothing in it. Kinda sucks, cause that's what I was going to be doing this whole weekend.
I already called Target back, and since this was the last one they had I'll probably just end up getting my money back. I guess in a way that's better because November is going to kill my pockets for video games with the Wii and about 10 other games I have reserved all coming out. Still sucks that there was no midi controller in it, cause the it was a return item or anything. Weird.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | so it was the one without midi controller.. hmm no doubt the price is so cheap.
the one with midi controller is in range of $300 to $400 as far as i know.
btw zckojiro selling his with a very good price, why not pay his ION if noise isnt big prob for you? but yeah.. its a very noisy thing for me.
ive explained in details before.
a lit tips : get your drumsticks cover by silent tip or rubber. It can reducing the noise, then play with an in-ear earphone. probably the noise itself can dissapear for you, but not for your family or everyone else in your home (or maybe neighbors)
