Question Connecting ps2 Keyboardmania keyboard in a pc USB

With MAME emulating Keyboardmania (but currently not working properly), I was think of buying a PS2 Keyboardmania controller to use once its finally emulated. My question is, when you plug the keyboard into the PC USB port does it detect the ps2 keyboardmania controler??

Thanks

No.

And AFAIK, no one's successfully written drivers for them either. Unless I haven't been around that long.

Same with PPP sensors.

Actually for MAME purposes I think the KBM con would work fine. It registers as a 24 button joypad. The issue is it's impossible or next to impossible to get it to work via MIDI.

However if you're going to try getting a KBM controller, you may as well get the game, too. Seeing as it'll cost about as much and it's better to play on the PS2 anyway.

Do all the key and buttons work then if it detects 24 button, I thought there were 30 buttons including start, select and the up down thing

Well just plug it in and check it out through the Windows joystick interface. Should answer your questions right there.

I assume those 6 keys are held down so the controller can identify itself?
I guess you could just play without the wheel turned off?

i was thinking that the 6 keys held down was for KBM 1 since its the only controller that will work for it
but since it was a USB device isnt the driver on the disc identifying the controller?

Why not just get it for PS2 then? The CS releases for KBM were pretty faithful to the arcade, as I recall. :P

CS Releases? Been searching around for as many "songpacks" as possible to buy once I get keyboard mania for my ps2. What are these cs releases you speak of?

Is there any way to burn your own custom keyboardmania cd's? Like, with your own custom songs mapped to work in keyboardmania? I have no idea but it'd be nice to know since konami seems to have stopped developing new keyboardmania songcds.

CS releases are "console" releases - i.e., releases for the PS2. So the keyboardmania for the PS2 that you're talking about? That's a console release. Nothing new, sadly, just different terminology.

As to custom KBM CDs: we wish.

The innards of KBM are proprietary, so developing append CDs for the game would require first reverse-engineering the entire game. It would be much more straightforward to simply re-implement the game for PC.

Unfortunately, KBM has a small enough following that there hasn't been a really good KBM simulator developed yet - hence the original poster's hoping that MAME will get KBM working. (That I know of. If I'm wrong, please hit me over the head and tell me, because I'm part of that tiny following and I should be contributing to the project.)
