I must say that I'm really loving this game. The intro is awesome; an improvement over GFDM V's intro. The interface and graphics are improved and are crystal pretty. The system music is very catchy too! The music is so awesome in comparison to V's, but V still has really great music, no doubt! On the GuitarFreaks side, I notice that picking up and down feels a bit strange and a little 'offset', thus making the player have to be more precise with note-reading and strumming. On the Drummania side, there are no interface problems that I encountered.
As for ROULETTE, it's nowhere near as bad as pop'n music 10's unlock system. I decided to go with ROULETTE over time release.....I just don't like how random it is, lol. Anyways, I'm loving GFDM MPS alot.
My GFDM MPG should be arriving soon as well. =)

Got my GFDM MASTERPIECE GOLD last week, and I must say that the presentation is very cool. The add-ons and customizes are great! The graphics are also very golden and neat! It's a nice boost from SILVER and V2 (from my AC experience).
The unlock system is soooo much better than SILVER's, lmao! It fills in the gaps with progression as opposed to SILVER's complete randomness.
The music list is great, but somehow, I prefer SILVER's songlist a bit more.
All that's left for me to get now is V2 and V3! =D

Total Tokens: 82,113.29 Donate Tokens | FinFUCKINGly!! Today, I've finally completely unlocked GuitarFreaks and Drummania MASTERPIECE SILVER via Roulette....notice the date on my previous post--11-16-2007; it really took me THAT long to unlock everything. I was patient and Konami should BURN for this one...I would play for 4~6 hours each day playing the harsh Roulette.
For unlocking on this game, I usually played the GuitarFreaks side because if I get the ENCORE STAGE or PREMIUM EXTRA STAGE, I have a higher chance of uncovering the next unlock without being 'too' disappointed...but there has been some instances in which it totally missed even with the highest chance. <_<
In any case, One Phrase Blues will always be the first song on my Most Played list because I NEEDED to play it EVERYTIME so that I could get ENCORE or PREMIUM EXTRA STAGE to get a higher chance at Roulette. One Phrase Blues (Bass) [BSC] FTW! It's a shame how I couldn't even get 80% on that song with that difficulty...and now after playing it about 100 times, I manage to get 95%~99% w/FC on it, lolz. My experience theory on the SILVER Roulette Progression Percentage Ratio Instance: An unlock image is almost complete and has 1~2 panels left to uncover
-Clear 1st STAGE, Fail 2nd STAGE
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 10%
-Clear 2nd STAGE, Fail 3rd STAGE
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 15%
-Clear LONG VERSION SONG, No Additional Stages
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 20%
-Clear 3rd STAGE, No Additional Stages
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 25%
-Clear up to EXTRA STAGE
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 35%
-Clear up to ENCORE STAGE or PREMIUM EXTRA STAGE
Roulette Unlock Completion Chance: 49%
...it's really that bad for some people and my experience was pretty much dead on with this analysis.
Aside from the Roulette, I must say that the unlocks are really nice! Makes GFDM MPS even greater!! Even after unlocking everything the old-573 way, I am still VERY much enjoying the song selection!
As for GuitarFreaks and Drummania MASTERPIECE GOLD, it took me 1/4 of the time that GuitarFreaks and Drummania MASTERPIECE SILVER took me to fully unlock. GOLD's unlock system is like tidal wave and SILVER's unlock system is like meteor swarm. I fully appreciate GOLD in its entirety and even more with its unlocks, so my overall conclusion has changed a bit......I like GOLD just a LITTLE more than SILVER; it's like SILVER's power is its awesome music selection while GOLD's power is in both great music and graphics.
My next incentive is to get V2 and V3...I sure hope that these two live up to the series along with more of the lost revivals. EDIT: TOCCATA (DM ADV) is sooooooooo awesome and fun to play OMG OMG OMGGGG!!!

And I'm pretty sure it took me two months to fully unlock MPS, but don't quote me on that.

I've played V3 in the arcades, but that was too long ago and I don't remember too much of the songlist.
As of now, I have all GF/DM CS releases except for Drummania 1stMIX and GFDM V3.
I must say that GFDM V2's unlocking system was the fastest out of all that I've played thus far! I actually like the idea of it not taking weeks to unlock songs. The sound quality on GFDM V2 is a bit higher than GFDM V's sound quality....especially with some revivals from GFDM V like Die Zauberflote; you can hear the clarity difference.
I like the overall GFDM V2 songlist; it's pretty good. The revivals are good too and I have no gripes on that. The game itself seems to be a bit 'easier'....seriously, I cleared my first GF 80 on this game. The Excite Gauge seems a bit more lenient too because I remember passing DAY DREAM on GFDM 4th/3rd by the skin of my teeth as opposed to clearing it with over half of my Excite Gauge intact on V2...I'm NOT griping on this though. xD!
I'd like some more input on V3 CS though...quality, fun, etc.
Here's my opinion on what I have thus far:
GFDM MPG > GFDM MPS > GFDM V = GFDM V2 > GFDM 4thMIX/3rdMIX > GF2ndMIX > GFDM 3rdMIX/2ndMIX > GF

Originally Posted by Trip Machina ...so, V3 doesn't measure up? | Depends on what you look for in a GFDM CS game, really. I disagree with that, but I have my reasons
First off, V3's replay value eclipses that of the other CS mixes by far. It features both arcade-style Battle Mode (though you only have the CPU to battle with...) and user titles, which makes for a little more fun than just gunning for skill points. You don't have any backgrounds to unlock, but there are plenty of "special battles" and avatars to unlock in their place.
The unlock system is very reasonable, albeit just slightly more time-consuming than V2. V3 has a very strong track list by itself... which is good, because there really aren't that many revivals. There are some good inclusions (Shooting Star, Misirlou, and Classic Party Triathlon), not to mention some kickass exclusives and previews(Midnight Sun long version and Jake in the Box... JAKE IN THE BOX!11). I found the tracklist somewhat short, but it's still better than V2...
Training mode is much better now -- you can change your play style options to suit your tastes.
One note, though -- the SP-calculation system is rather strange. They've tweaked it such that your total SP is more reflective of the SP you'd obtain in the arcades.
It ultimately depends on your musical tastes. IMO the system has some strong improvements (I think the timing's easier, too), so there aren't any complaints there. I bought it for Ryouran Hit Chart and Midnight Sun long version (surely not Summer Sun or Fly High...). You already have the other ones, why not get this one too? For collecting, if anything :p

As for V3 being inferior, I have no idea where you got that idea, but I'm not rereading this thread at the risk of losing my internet connection which has been super unstable as of late.
In my opinion, V3 is possibly the best one yet. Definitely better than V and V2 at least, and I liked them plenty. I may have already said something to this effect, but I'm not checking...

I would put V3 above Silver if taking the interface and battle mode into consideration, below if just the song list.

If you're talking about song list alone, I think I'd have to agree as well. GFDMMG's song list is well-deserving of its title

I did like that V3 gave me more SP but it disappointed me when I went back to MPG and ended up not being improved at all. D: bittersweet LOL

And the MPS save logic doesn't really make sense. MPG had enough themes on it's own. It's not like any of them remove the gold bar on the song select screen. It doesn't really bug me though.
Though on an unrelated note, I still say Konami either lost the results to their poll, or just disregarded them when the made the MP games. Some of the stuff on MPG I just can't see as having received more votes than some of the stuff in MPS, or stuff that was revived in V2 or V3. Songs like Wall Street Downsizer and Midnight Special should've been shoe-ins just because they've been in other bemani and people who had next to no GFDM experience would vote for them. (like I did with memories...)

Konami and other companies use this marketing technique frequently. Suffice to say, don't ever believe them when they talk about some gimmick requiring consumer input. With polls, contests, petitions, "votes", whatever -- they collect information and might use some of it as rough guidance in their work, or they might not, but they know what you like and it helps keep their product fresh in your mind. The product YOU helped create.
As far as this series goes, I really enjoyed V3 for the unlock code. I don't care to unlock things; I just want to play the songs.
