Marketplace Rating: 7 | DJ Dao GF/DM Arcade Style Controllers As some may have seen in the Guitar Hero thread, DJ Dao is planning on creating controllers for Guitar Freaks/Guitar Hero and Drummania.
He is hoping to make a controller that is compatible with both GF/GH.
What we would like to know is what people would like to see implemented into these controllers. This includes size, material, and any bells and whistles.
We would also like to know what people would PAY for these things. Obviously a higher price results in better quality overall, but we want to know where to draw the line.
The Drummania one would be a bit more difficult to manufacture, so we would like more price suggestions for that one. When he asked me personally, I told him if it were a good quality controller, I would pay $500US total ($400US plus $100US shipping). What do others think?

Marketplace Rating: 1 | I agree, if it's about the same price as the ASC, then I don't see much marketing potential.
If you could construct a good DM controller for that price, it would be more viable, since there's currently a big gap existing between the high and low end controllers.

Marketplace Rating: 7 | Again, we were more concerned with the pricing of a Drummania controller. Dao is well aware that the ASCs for GF are already very nice.
What we're going for here is a guitar controller at a good price that works for BOTH Guitar Freaks and Guitar Hero. That would be the reason people would pick it up over the Konami ASC.
Also wanting to know about aesthetics. Maybe there is something that could be added to it to make the GF-only players want it even more? I can't think of anything, I'm a IIDX player :P

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I would agree on paying $500 for a top quality DM controller if it was close to playing the arcade machine. That really would be cool since the KOC ones aren't quality material. I felt like I wasted $100 on this plastic crap since I don't bother to use it anymore.

The Sanwa buttons would be nice too. And lots of purdy LED's.

Marketplace Rating: 9 | I would definitely pay 500$ shipped for an arcade quality drummania controller. If you guys manage to build one for that much. (and I was thinking about getting one of those DTXpress III for 700$...)
As for Guitar freaks, I bought Konami's already.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Yeah, I have a feeling that most people who play Guitar Freaks pretty much play the game exclusively, or to an extent where they wouldn't want a Dual ASC for both play on both games. I figure if you purchase an ASC, you would use it for GF since thats what it was initially designed for.
Of course, thats not to say that you like or dislike either of the games, I'm just saying it seems to me you'd be more likely to purchase an ASC just for use on GF since thats what people use ASC's for. Guitar Hero's scoring mechanic doesn't really require an ASC, since its basically you hit or miss the the notes (no real timing judgment in terms of perfects, greats, etc).
Also if you plan on keeping the neck/fretboard of the guitar on this dual-use ASC the same size as a real ASC, then playing Guitar Hero would be next to impossible since the game is heavily scales based. The GFASC fretboard isn't designed to have you slide your hands up and down it.
However, as everyone else has said, if you can manage an affordable drum set, in parts or with a frame, the same size as a DTX and for cheaper, then I'm sure you'll be able to manage a ton of sales. The only issue with that would be how you'd handle shipping of the parts.

Nice pretty lights like the arcade machine has.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I posted this in the Guitar Hero forum thread too, so I hope this isn't out of line:
"The electronically and game-mechanically simplest thing to do would be to have a double-necked guitar controller, one neck for GH and one for GF.
Dao does left side right side for IIDX, so I'd imagine controllers could be made with the GF neck high and GH neck low, as well as the other way around. I would probably buy this controller for the badass factor. I usually wouldn't really play Guitar Freaks, but with that controller I probably would once I get around to picking up DM."
Not to mention it would set it aside from the Konami ASC because it can let you look like this:
