Dao does left side right side for IIDX, so I'd imagine controllers could be made with the GF neck high and GH neck low, as well as the other way around. I would probably buy this controller for the badass factor. I usually wouldn't really play Guitar Freaks, but with that controller I probably would once I get around to picking up DM."
Not to mention it would set it aside from the Konami ASC because it can let you look like this: | I LoL'ed so hard

10th person to agree. I wonder how the quality of the Drum Mania controller would be? This would take you guys a long time, I suppose? I was planning on getting a cheaper drumset from Target.
I think everyone agrees the closer it looks and feels and acts to the arcade, the better. I wouldn't worry yourself with trying to make some aestethic gimick on it, as some people may like it and others may hate it - that type of stuff is unpredictable.
I think that red color from the machines would be awesome too. :O

Marketplace Rating: 1 | A double neck GF ASC sounds like a terrible idea. Personally, I would want an ASC to be exclusively for GF, seeing as we all know that Guitar Hero is a terrible game and not fun at all.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | If you made a DM controller, when would it be ready? How long does it take you guys to go from this stage (planning), to when people can purchase them?
And... since you're not a store I can go to if the product doesn't work right, how is that handled? I would hope the machine works perfectly and can take the beating that is a Drum Mania game, but you never know.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | query: Could the drum controller be interchangably played as a normal drum? Let's say that it doesn't come with a built-in module, could we still get one and play it that way? The way other electronic drumsets work, the pads has different levels of sensitivity and can play louder/softer sounds through sensitivity. However, Drummania only requires one level of sensitivity: whether it registers on the pad or not. Sure you may be able to set the sensitivity to make the pads take softer hits to register, but it doesn't entail that it would play softer if played as a regular e-drumset. The reason I ask is while most ASCs don't exactly have the type of versatility to be used in other situations, the drummania set does allow for further uses. Just curious. (but seriously, if this comes into fruition, make double bass an option. It's just totally awesome.)

Yup. So if I wanted both functions, I'd spend the extra $300 for a DTX real set.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | What kind of timeframe are we looking at here? I was going to buy a GF KOC, but if this is going to be out within a month or so, I'll forget that idea. I don't mean to rush you or anything, but I'd like to know whether it would be worth my money to buy a KOC while I wait.

Not to mention it would set it aside from the Konami ASC because it can let you look like this: | I, like Manny, LOLed quite hard at the picture. However, since you gave the suggestion with serious intention, I'll comment accordingly:
Your'e quite right, two seperate necks = elimination of problems. I won't, however, touch the controller for a few reasons
- No, I actually WOULD play this in the company of friends. C'mon, double-necked guitars DO look cool
- If it isn't going to look like a double-necked ukelele (ROFL@you, KOC) it'll be rather heavy
- The twin necks, although an innovation, are also troublesome. If you play on the inner neck, you have to worry about your fingers banging against the outer neck mid-fret, thus interfering with your playing. If you play on the outer neck, your arm would get quite uncomfortable after a while since you have to reach around the inner neck to reach the fret buttons. You can solve the first problem if you make the necks further apart, but then you'd make the second problem worse; if you make the necks closer together, you'd make the first problem worse, and if you want to eliminate both problems altogether... you'll end up with a single-necked guitar that is compatible with both games
I wouldn't mind wailing in GF with the GH bar, though; pointing the guitar up usually messes up my combos
A possible solution might be to have a "snap-on" base for each game? Like, have a seperate neck for GH, and one for GF. I don't know anything about electronics, but I reckon it might be possible to implement some sort of jack for the connections, and maybe some sort of latching mechanism to keep the neck in place during play?
Hell, I just worry about the pick. I imagine that GH with a GF-style pick would be quite the interesting experience ;3
