Default DM/GF songs that are based off of other songs

what songs in DM/GF are *based* off of other songs?

I know children's sketchbook is, and isn't concertino in blue based off of george gershwin's "rhapsody in blue"?

Isn't there a song in GF/DM that's based off of Freckles? Or is it the original?

Freckles was just a cover, I think.

Yeah, the Classic Parties are based on other songs as is Session X'mas.

I heard somewhere that The Least 100 Seconds was actually based off someone else's work, but I can't really confirm that.

I'd say that Tocatta is different enough from the original that you could say it's based on another song, and not just a cover. Just IMO though.

Also, the Agnus Dei is close enough to the guitar part from Malice Mizer's Shiroi Hada blahblahblahblah that I'd say it's based off it.

And of course, there's Die Zauber Flote.

Children's sketchbook, is based of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (sounds pretty homo if u ask me) which is an old hymn which dates back quite some time.

Umm rhapsody in blue by gershwin isnt the basis of any drummania song. THat song is 14 minutes long and if it were a dmgf song it would have a DM EXT difficulty of like 6 and a GF EXT difficulty of 0 because in the whole song there is like 10 drum hits and a cymbal every 2 minutes and there isnt any guitar in that song.

As for songs within Drummania

Potpourri D Orange - Furi Furi 60 and Mondo street
Riff riff orbit - Midnight sun and various other Mutsuhiko works
Magical jet tour - Jet world
Potpourri D Marmalade - Love is orange (from beatmania)
Model DD 1-7 - Daydream

I have this feeling Onihime was based off Agnus Dei, but I could never confirm it anywhere, but both look very similar to me.

Also, Timepiece Phase II seems to be related to Tamayura in a way.

smoke on the water

*edit*

I'm pretty sure if you look through the older mixes you would be able to spot them easliy, most of the covers on GF/DM are eighties hair band songs.

Well TPII and Tamayura were composed by Hirofumi Sasaki

I guess both songs have constant snare rolls seems to give them something in common.

Onihime uses the same video from agnus dei except in black and white in certain areas. Both are composed by Asaki too.

i think people missed the point entirely after the first two posts...

i meant based off of other songs that *weren't* in the music game series.

also, listen to the near end of rhapsody in blue, i'm talking about the parts where there ARE drums near the end, the melody sounds almost the exact same.

Freckles is a direct translation from the original Japanese title そばかす (Sobakasu), written by Judy And Mary, which first appeared in DMgf 10/11, which was also used in the theme for Rurouni Kenshin (or the lame translation: Samurai X). Hope that clears things up

To clarify further, they are both made by the same graphic designer, which is Nono (The best in my opinion). Even thought it doesn't seem it, nono also did Kagonotori. That's why they looks similair, but the movements of those.... Things... Are completely different if you think about it. Agnus Dei used simple angular changes in position, while Onihime used angular and complete geometric changes and simple stills that are moved.
