On 3rd Mix today, I passted Right on Time Normal with a B on 2X. But then again, I wonder how good I am now in sync with "recent developments" in the DM world.
So, when the charts got reshuffled, did the Normal charts get shuffled onto Basic, or Advanced? I'm confused...cause I beleive it was a 5*.

Basic = Normal
Advanced = Real
Extreme = Expert Real
There may be exceptions, but I don't know of any.
On a side note so you don't get confused, the ratings in the new 1-99 system change between mixes. Occasionally a few songs get raised, but for the most part songs go down in difficulty ratings.

Then from then on, slight revision changes are made after each succeeding game version.
NOTE: Be advised though that the ratings just gives you a *GENERAL* idea of how easy or how hard a song is in its respective difficulties. Granted, a song with a same rating may still be easier or harder than other songs with the same rating.
Just take note of that

I don't know if basic got re-rated though.

I don't know if basic got re-rated though. | Yeah that's another thing.
Ratings for this game are malleable and change over time and that they vary.
Look at Seven Lucky Gods and 777. There extreme charts are rated at 77.
Yet these songs are harder than Scenario (82) or She Said (83).
So yeah, that explains why it's really hard to decipher ratings at face value.

I wouldn't know too well, seeing as how I don't play beginner.
Also, songs ratings go down about as much as they do up, even though it isn't very often, and most times isn't terribly drastic unless you're shiritori. | |

You can argue endlessly about comparative ratings, but you do have to remember the exact context. The ratings, these days, are set with SP in mind. The basic aim is that a player of a given skill level should get as close as possible the same SP on every song. That's how the difficulty level is set.
This is important if you think about how SP works. The difficulty level of a song is *not* really set on the basis of how hard the song is to pass, but how hard it is to get a high skill percentage on it, which is determined principally by p-rate and combo. When you remember to think in this context, it makes it much easier to understand why some songs are rated the way they are. For instance, with 777, it has some extremely hard parts but it also has some very regular parts; it's comparatively tough to pass compared to other songs rated in the same range, but the regular sections mean you can get a decent combo and p-rate, so it's not justified to rate it in the high 80s.
