Total Tokens: 3,683.18 Donate Tokens | Does anyone else fee like they have to break in their wrists every GF session? I notice now and then, when I start playing my left wrist goes all stiff/won't bend and it takes a little while before I get used to it.
For example, I played earlier today, had the wrist issue, it went away and I enjoyed myself, and when I tried firing up GF later tonight just a few songs in and I can already feel the stiffness in my left wrist getting in the way of fast songs.
Please tell me I'm not the only one. Something tells me parts of this game is so fast/unhuman it requires the ability to feel no pain in your limbs and joints.
I remember when I first started playing at the arcades, my fingers would actually start to ache and I'd try to stretch/crack them during pauses of songs - it screwed over many comboes - but I got used to that..... so I'm hoping this wrist thing is the same.

Back when I first started, I would play on a GF 9th mix for 5+ hours and within the first 2 my fingers were hurting because I've never played that long before.

It does, however, take me a song or two to "warm up" my fingers... each time I've tried playing without those warmup songs my scores have been horrendous. Maybe it's a psychological thing Quote: |

| DD6? Misirlou? The latter leaves me completely drained, with my right arm near cramping up Quote: |

| Yeah, the ASC takes a while to get used to. Before I played seriously (I mean, seriosly) it was only the KOC for me, so my hands weren't used to supporting such a heavy controller. That, and the ASC's fret buttons are quite a bit stiffer than the KOC's cheap plastic buttons, so I had to spend a good month or so building up finger strength
I play with the 2P effector knobs instead of cracking my knuckles. Almost all 2P guitars here have fucked up knobs that don't work, so they spinnnnnnn and spinnnnnnn

I mean, I hit the fret buttons with just my fingers too, but I think the force I hit it at, it effects my wrists too.
It's funny to hear all you guys talk about your "war wounds" too. Hahaha. I didn't realize everyone has their story. I think when I use to just down strum...oh jeez. Break Down on the V3 machine would kill me.

Other than that, the only recurring "injury" i get is a broken index fingernail on my right hand, because rather than grasping the pick between my thumb and index, i curl my index and hit the underside of the pick with my nail XD. It breaks every session, and it freakin hurts.

...i wonder why voiddd nv got that even though he fulldownpick practically everything... XD
As for me, I have to crack / stretch / whatever you call it my fingers per... 1-2 hours? Cuz my joints have a tendency to stiffen up after some usage. Mouse clicking, Playstation controller mashing, GF changing etc etc.
The only exception, is that when I play nasty endless changing songs like... DD5, DD6, Onihime... I would have to crack it at every rest point. It's just too painful. Moreover, my hands are damn small, so I have to use my wrists to switch a lot. Ow.
But I still think my right hand is too seasoned from DM. 190bpm didnt feel tiring to me. Even as a warmup song. Funky is still overkill though. XD

Luckily a friendd told me that you didnt need to press them each time.

although the -OPEN- essentially adds another note to the fray, it also happens to break up the unending stream of notes that fall towards the line (or rise, whatever your preference).
some people can play through extended streams of notes at a time. others, like myself, lose their concentration somewhere in the middle and end up getting a stream of POOR/MISS, even though they may be able to FC the entire section... in these situations, -OPEN- cuts those sections apart into smaller, easily managed bite-sized chunks

So yeah, I had never really been to a real arcade before, and one day some of my friends to me to the arcade in the local public market (where all the shops are of chinese origin). I saw some people playing GF and I was damn intrigued. Of course, they sucked, and happened to be playing all down pick (nothing against you voidddd)... and they were using light as well, which i didn't realize at the time. Anyways, I put in my 50 cents.. (this was after 10th/11th had been out for a years time, and GF was only 50 cents!!!) and gave it a try.. trying one of the songs i heard the other guys playing!! dragon blade!! Of course.. my left hand didn't know what the other hand was doing, my right hand banging away on the pick to no discernable beat.. and being on 1x and not knowing how to change the speed didn't help either.. so I promptly failed and vowed never to play that "fucking terrible" game again. After we left the arcade, we were talking about GF, and one of my friends said you could actually move the pick up and down.. which intrigued me.. so I went back and spent the next 3 hours playing 30's and 40's... 4 years later.. and here I am... ~lol~

My turn:
I never stretch or anything of the other when playing. Amazingly my right wrist never bugs me even though I'm down picker... what usual happens is that my left arm will go completely numb after playing a while. My fingers will just freeze, moving them will be like trying to lift a heavy toolbox when your hands are asleep. So, I guess after playing enough my left arm virtually starts to fall asleep. I guess it gets a little sore too.
It's funny watching my brother play though. I can't understand how he can even push the buttons. His fingers look so tense. I'm always like, "Bill! What's wrong, chill out." He has bad wrist, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Yah, he also uses his pinky to press the blue button, which I find odd? Which is probably why he gets sore so dang easily...

The first time I ever played GF was... *drumroll*... GF1. The very first fucking Guitar Freaks, and this was at some arcade @ Universal Studios in California. Needless to say I grinded Chicago Blues, Fire and Happy Man. Next experience was closer to home, also GF1, but at the now-defunct Playdium @ Metrotown.
Kinda stopped going to the arcades while I focused on online grindfest games (RO, anyone?) The next time I picked up GF I played pop songs I recognized (桃色片想い, 本日は晴天ナリ, etc) and really grinded Dragon Blade... didn't help that the friend I played with was infatuated w/ that song.
Eventually I learned that Konami released a CS version of V through that friend, so I bought the game and bought both the KOC and a shitty third-party controller (6 buttons ftw!) via lik-sang. Got slightly better, then decided to hit the arcades in ~summer 2006, and haven't looked back since.
Still 3 steps shy from buying my own ASC, though >_<
