Marketplace Rating: 0 | Does GFDM get boring after you've "mastered" it? Perhaps mastered isnt' the right word, but I ask this questin because I can picture it being ironically true. For those of us who can't pass every song or play as well we like, we look forward to the day when we can "S everything" and think that is when we reap our reward.
But I wonder.... I already have some low level songs that I wish I could play (because I like the song) but avoid because they're too easy. Does this happen with seasoned players here (like checkrox, aieru, etc.)?
How has the game changed for you? Do you enjoy it now or did you enjoy i tmore back then?

How has the game changed for you? Do you enjoy it now or did you enjoy i tmore back then? | Songs that I have been playing for YEARS already still haven't bored me. Whenever I used to play at an arcade on guitar freaks at least once every few times I would do a Non-stop course of all songs "Homegirl". (Just for shits and giggles)
And for the easier songs, I like to add in Random or Super Random because it usually makes the difficulty of it a bit more higher. Or try to get 100% perfects which makes me know I've completely destroyed the song which I've done a few times already. (Sad that I don't have a single DDR Heavy AAA even though I've been playing DDR a LOT longer then I've been playing GFDM)
Playing the exact same songs on Drummania makes it a lot more fun also.
This is coming from someone who can High C to High B most of the 85-90 level songs. It gets me more practice as I can still work on my finger switching.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | If anything, I like it more than when I started. It's way funner now because I'm active on this and another forum so I get to compare my scores with others.. but that's only a small part of it. The funnest part is getting to play with and beside so many other people that are really close in skill level, because I'm always pushing myself to get better. In my opinion, mastering this game means Excellenting every song (I don't think any player has managed that yet), yes, including daydream. The game is progressive, each new mix brings new songs and changes that keep it fresh and interesting. Although I admit, just for nostalgia I sometimes go down to one arcade where they still have a 11th/10th combo. Just seeing the pink marquee brings back nostalagia like you wouldn't believe, and I realize I love this game. As for the difficulty, I enjoy busting out low level songs or songs I've already excellented all the time. For example ツバサ... I freaking love this song, Under Graph is great, but it's only 40 something?? on GF and 40 on DM.. but I still love to play it none the less. So no, GF has not gotten any more boring for me, in fact, I want to play it more and more and just have fun and get better =] It's all up to the individual though. I remember going through a 6 month period last year where I didn't want to play at all, cause I sucked and wasn't getting any better at all. So i just cooled it and took a break. But now I'm hooked for good =] Hope that answers your question.

Even challenging songs are boring to play because Ive heard and played them so many times. I don't think its fun playing every single song 100 times just to try and SS it.
Which is why I play DTXMania instead of the arcade now - I never run out of challenging songs to play, and I can use double bass. And playing Dream Theater and Slipknot is way more fun than Panasonic Youth on DMV.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | i was talking to aeriyu about this the other day, he agreed with me - we both play 'easy' stuff sometimes (anything under 50 for me, I guess anything under 70 for him) just because we like it. nothing wrong with playing something easy once in a while just for fun.
i think gfdm is one of those things no-one really feels like they've mastered. I mean, there's no one on this board (or that I know locally) remotely close to the best gfdm players, the ones who SS level 90 stuff, even the players who look like gods to me...and I bet even the best japanese players have goals they're aiming for.
I used to play Doom (old FPS PC game, for the young 'uns :>) at a high level, for a long time (like six or seven years). I never felt like I mastered that. There's always more to aim for. I think you just get bored whenever you get bored, doesn't necessarily matter how good you are.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | Yeah, although I definitely wouldn't call myself a master of GF, I can comfortably beat almost any song in the game. It's still fun to play. For some reason it's not boring to play easier songs in GFDM like in other Bemani games, maybe it's just the way the instruments work since you're usually hitting something. To spice things up I'll throw on hazard and some other mods or attempt an SS, but even without it I'll still have fun playing the song. Haha, actually I like the number of low songs sometimes because it means I'll have no trouble getting extra stage.

Or just flail the guitar around more, it's alot harder to pick accurately when you're swinging the guitar around like a maniac + it looks more interesting than players who just stand there with the guitar in the exact same position for 7/8th of the song. And interesting is good.

It's even more fun now that I post here on this forum because I get to follow the next installments and post up my best scores along with everybody else, as opposed to the "dark years" of the first few mixes where I felt like I was the only person in the world who played
And regardless of a song's difficulty, I'll play anything that's fun or just a good song. I torture my friends with Diamonds, Boogie Train and Island in the Sun all the time, even though I've probably played those a hundred times already.
If you want a fun way to make a song harder, try playing with your hand inverted on the fret (holding it from above like a handlebar), at least during a solo. It looks pretty nifty if you don't screw up too bad

True, it's starting to get a tad boring for me. Especially with the fact that since e-amusement is up, and people are spamming specific songs just for the fact that they wanna full-combo or get a specific combo they want for that specific song (e.g trying to get 400 combo in under control, which is sick)
But come to think of it, I was pushing SP songs so much, that I neglected my lower level songs. Since I pretty much have reached my SP target for this mix, I have started to play "what they like to call it as retarded" lower level songs like S.P.I.P. and Nyandeferau 555. It's really hilarious when I play these songs, and seeing fellow players having the "why the f is he playing this damn song when he shld be pushing for sp" kind of face.
I just try not to play super slow songs like Cross Road... They make me sleep..
Moreover, I also did what original_z did. Stealths, and Hazards. XD
GF:
As much as I played GF, I'm still not really sick of it. Cuz there's a tonne of songs I've yet to play well. (mainly songs with odd changings like Magical Jet Tour or shredder songs like Herring Roe and Green Lime)
The only time I get sick of it is when I screw up my fingers physically...

It's good to know many of you are still playing it years later. SRA and speed mods (and dark + hidden) really make some level 40 songs fun. It's also fun to just rock out too. Also, once you master one game (like GF), you play the next.

As for DM getting boring, I still play songs I can S/SS. Note charts don't have to be hard for them to be fun.

I'll stop playing the day I can FC a post-Desert Rose Kozo song (triplets, anyone?)
And hey, I like the WTF looks I get when I play 4 ~30-40 songs and then Timepiece SRA as my extra stage
