I'll give credit that Drummania helps you build stamina, increase your hand eye and multitasking coordination, and ability to pay attention to musical cues and beats ie a musicians ear, but thats pretty much it.
As far as DDR is concerned, well theres no way I would have known it if was a success or not but game companies do hire psychologists for consultation on what makes games addicting and makes people want to play it. In college there is a field of study called game theory which focuses on what people want in games and what makes them want to play a game over and over again. Electrical, Digital and music entertainment in games is probably one of the largest markets in the world. Konami put in thought and effort into their games. They dont pull games out of their asses and hope it would sell good. Point is I wouldnt know if a game like DDR would sell, but the creators of the game did think so. Surely enough they were right.
to put it in bad words.. our desires and wants in games are merely statistical data to companies who manipulate it to ensure that we would provide repeated business towards them. Well I don't blame them I brought it upon myself.
