actually some drummers will stick piezoelectric elements on the bottom of the drumheads of actual drumsets so it can work in the same way as an electronic drumsets. all that's really needed for the piezos to send a signal is vibration.
PROJECT UPDATES & INFO:
- yet another circuit board design may be released! this one will attempt to use radio shack part # 276-150 for the PCB if at all possible. I don't have the resources to produce any of the PCB designs i created, but for those who do, the PCB file is posted above.. it was created in ExpressPCB.
- I'm ordering all the parts necessary for this mod on Friday (08/10/07), and expect them to arrive the following week
- the controller will be interfaced to the PS2 using an old PSX controller. I have seen a design to make your own PSX controller, but finding an old one and soldering into it is much more cost effective.
- I might switch to using a wall wart instead of USB to get power for the lights. this will allow more flexibility in integrating lights, and won't stress your ps2/pc.
-This will be compatible with DTXmania and other DM sims using a PSX->PC adapter. I suggest using a Parallel port if at all possible. alternatively, if you're using it only on PC, you can wire it to a gameport, jamma board, or any other method of interfacing switches.
Expect more news next week!
