Default DrumMania Official Konami controller

I'm really anxious to get into DrumMania, but I heard that the Konami official controller sucks pretty hard... I heard that it's really small compared to the arcade, and the bass pedal barely works.

Does anyone know if the new KOC's for DM are worth buying? They are quite pricey... so I need to know before I buy one. Thanks.

or you can save up and buy a DTX PLORER but i think the KOC is good for now and doesn't come with a stand either

The KOC is really not worth buying. First of all, the assembly is fairly confusing, because you have so screw in the base of the stand, which I find near impossible to do properly. Then the bass pedal breaks after two months. If you have great craftmanship and have the ability to apply tiny screws with ease, AND have a better foot pedal, I guess buying it wouldn't be that bad.

Here is a video of me doing Onihime EXT with the KOC.

As you can tell, it requires more wrist work then arm.

...because the damn controller is completely flat, making the cross-hand technique a bit harder to pull off.

I have it and it works fine as long as I use those little sticks. The drum heads all trigger without misses and, so far, the bass pedal reads all of the stomps. Hopefully, it'll last for long. It doesn't take that long to get accustomed to the small size of the controller.

It's not nearly as bad as people would have you believe but it does have a bit of a learning curve. Putting the thing together took a little longer than I would have wanted but that was easy to overlook. Just use the provided sticks, secure the bass pedal to the floor if you can, and you should be good to go.

i had to modify a yamaha foot switch in place of a bass pedal it works great i can even do cross handed on the controller for like funky sonic world and such hi hat intense songs

the top way ive seen has some problems with snare and tom hits (this isnt true of all topway) but ive seen it on at least 2 in person

I thought about getting the KOC controller myself but after hearing some complaints from friends I decided its worth the 40 min drive to go play V2 on the weekend. The GF KOC however is pretty fucking good, I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have enough $$ for the ASC coming out.

If you're dead set on a home ver. setup though, the DTXpress/DTXplorer series is amazing, I've played on both. However I have seen cheaper setups (5-6 hundred dollar drumkits) rigged to play GDAmania and V CS.

Actually, on that note, what's the most affordable way to have an Arcadelike setup for Drummania CS? I've kind of grown fond of it over my few trips to TGA, and there's not a damned place around here that has one. :/

And no I'm not getting the mini. That thing's too cramped for me to go nuts and have a lot of fun with it. :P

The most arcade-like you will get is an electronic drumset. All you'd need is a 5-piece set(obviously), and make sure it can connect using USB. They are pretty expensive, though($300-$500). :\

If I were to get DM for home I'd spend the $300-$500 dollars. The KOC suck, but that's just me.

That's actually about what I was looking/expecting to spend, so that's not too bad.

Yeah, then I would definitely suggest it.

Damn. Why couldn't they just have two seperate stands for the high hats included? :/ Is it really that hard? I'll probably still buy it because I really reallyr eally want to get in on drum mania... maybe I'll get a Guitar Freaks controller first though.
