I just wondered how you change all the options and stuff. Is there a screen that comes up and shows you? And are the CS games mostly in English like IIDX CS? Help would be very appreciative. I want to make the most of GF&DM.

You can preset or adjust settings in the Options menu at the main, like sound and controller settings. You can also preset your play style, like how fast you want the notes to scroll, where the combo is located, and others. The play style menu can also be accessed during the song selection screen by selecting a song and holding the start button until the menu pops up.
If you want to change difficulties, you can do so at the song selection screen by hitting the hi-hat twice.
Last but not least, all the options are in English, so you don't have to worry about getting lost in the menus. XD
If you bought Gitadora:
There's the options menu at the main menu. Refer to the above paragraph about it.

However not all the songs have these three difficulties, especially BASS and OPENPICK of GF.

Just to let you know, the hardest song on GF1 on Expert or whatever the "hard" mode is is about a level 30-40 nowadays. So that's like, nothing.
Just prepare for the jump in difficulty. Quote: |
I'm going to be getting the original Drummania bundle in the mail soon.
| I hope you don't mean the original DM1. Otherwise, I can't really help with the next part. Quote: |
I just wondered how you change all the options and stuff.
| Read post above, plus:
GF4DM3 - Up speed with Red, Green, Blue, Pick, Pick on song select or mode select screen
GFDMV - Up Speed with Green x3 on song select screen
Toggle Bass (& open pick on V)
GF4DM3 - Press SELECT on song slect screen (only Bass mode)
GFDMV - Press P,G,G,P to toggle thru Bass Mode, Open Pick, and Normal mode
Cancel All
Both games - Wiggle pick until settings clear Quote: |
Is there a screen that comes up and shows you?
| Play Select Menu (GFDMV Only)
Hold down START while choosing the song until menu shows up. Quote: |
And are the CS games mostly in English like IIDX CS?
| Yes. It's pretty language neutral. The only thing that might not make sense at first in GFDMV is the GITADOCHANKO that occurs at the end of every Arcade mode game.
GITADOCHANKO is a slot machine type thing that appears after every set of songs you play in Arcade mode. The first slot is whether it will use your Total Perfects or Max Combo. It will multiply that number by whatever amount shows up on the second slot (1x, 2x, 3x, or 5x). The third slot determines whether or not you even get anything, so aim for the White one, not the black one (I think; I unlocked everything a while ago.)
These points subtract from the points needed to unlock the next song on the unlock list. I don't have the list on me, but I'm sure someone can post it if you need it.
Have fun. | |

I've got a DTX on the way and I was curious exactly how you're supposed to "hold Start" to get to that menu when you're using a DTX. Do I need to keep a PS2 controller plugged in and use that, or what?

Don't attempt to play Guitar Freaks with anything other than a controller designed for this purpose. I know $70 for one kind of game sounds like a lot. Trust me, it's well worth it. GF is unplayable with a standard controller and not a whole lot better with a joystick (analog or not). Oh, and I've heard all kinds of bad things about the Guitar Hero controller, in case you were thinking of that.
You can turn off Gitado slot and eventually get everything time released, including the two songs you normally need DDR Strike and PM13 saves for (I think; I never actually tried it). Even so, I recommend you leave Gitado Slot on; it's a lot faster even if you have really lousy luck (like me ). The first reel is either total perfects and max combo. You have no control over this, so don't bother. For the other two, the important thing to rememer is, as much as humanly possible, avoid white. The second reel is the multiplier, with white being the lowest, 1x. The sole purpose of the third reel is to trip up the careless; if you get the white words, you get no points. The timing of this "canceller" is constant, so it's pretty easy to avoid. Just keep your eyes open and don't get careless.
In terms of value (2 games for the price of 1), consistently listenable music, and pure jammin' fun, no other Bemani game matches Gitadora. Rock on.
