If fusion really just revolves so heavily around HH rolling and whenever-I-feel-like-it kick, then I'm sorry to say I don't like it at all. I'll stick with Meikyoushisui if I want some jazz or big band that wasn't on The Weather Channel.
And as far as Tengu goes, I feel it was a really bad song as it was basically HH until the chorus-y part which is the same 3-4 beat phrase over and over, lather, rinse, repeat. It would've done well as maybe menu music, I guess. I'm not saying that all the other GFdm artists are so varied and never stick with a sound that works for them, but even Asaki and Kozo can radically change it up once and awhile.
Regardless, I'll always love Jimmy far more more than Thomas Howard (I'd say a million times more, but most people realize that a million times zero is still a big fat goose egg). Okay, a bit harsh but I think it's time for THL to, I 'unno, get fired or something.

In fact, I personally believe that other than Centaur, cockpit and a few other songs, everything else from Jimmy are just like same old stuff from him.
Indeed, nothing new here

I DO have a bit of a theory on this, though. Have you noticed how V3 and V5 loaded the game with a ton more really hard songs (V4 not so much)? I really think that they're trying to balance the song list a bit by tossing a ton of mid and lower level difficulty songs out there this time with the only really challenging ones coming at the last Encore or Premium. Then next mix we'll see a bit better distribution. Just my guess on it all, but it just seems like a very meh mix in terms of difficulty thus far.
Also, we still need a real Trick Trap or at least a solid sequel to a much lauded previous champ song, I don't particularly care which so long as it isn't Model anything.

GFDM probably has this since GFDM V.

Anyway, I spotted a trend in song spamming:
V3 = Venus(?)
V4 = Fat Lip, September
V5 = Starlike Stereo, The World, Zetsubou Billy
V6 = TTFAF(?)
I guess V5 has the most balanced songlist in terms of replayability, even with a lot of harder ones thrown in. I'm not sure about for V3 and V6 but spamming TTFAF is like playing Model FT2 MV at first stage IMO.

Total Tokens: 389,897.44 Donate Tokens | V3 is a very easy mix without e-amuse if we're only talking the songs new to that mix. All of the real difficult pieces came out after the initial release.
Zenith, Purple Storm, and El Dorado were about it on the base game.
V4 had Leaving All Behind, Nemesis, and 5-10, Mascarada, Jake in the Box, Strike Party, Revolution, and Zig Zag Life in addition to all the unlocks that were on V3 (around 7 harder songs), so I'd argue that out of the box V4 was a much harder mix.
Also, I can see both sides to the discussion regarding the new first stage policy, but I really think it was a good move for at least newcomers. To me, I'd rather see 10 more people come to like GFdm and have a few of the top-tier folks get irked about some dork practicing the same song for their first each time than have a bunch of noobs get owned by a song out of their range and then decide the game is jankety. Listening to TTFaF is much better than hearing "Stage Failed" and some kid curse at a game they hardly know about. :P

Here's the page for the song comment of 風神雲龍伝: 風ž›龍伝
Also, I just found out that Vampire Killer is made by someone from nc.
