Going to take on a project, any advice please?

Ok. So here's the deal.
I have this P.O.S.

And i got it off ebay for nothing, but I see why. The G and B buttons don't work, and the pick needs to be hammered insanely to even get a mild response.
I have opened it 100 times and have ruled it down to a wire short or sumthing of that kind.

I was wondering if
1. anyone knew how to fix this
2. or better yet use like a ps2 or psx (idk its a psx guitar) to rewire it and make a whole new, better controller using the shell and buttons?

I could really use some help on this.
I would do it, but don't know where to start.

better yet, some one wana up a guide of how to rewire a GH controller using a psx controller. Cuz I mean I know you all said you'd do it...and nope. Nothing.
That would be insanely helpful not only to me but to many people.
