Guitar Freaks 9h mix questions

I would think to go to GDAMania FAQs for this, but its down T^T

Anyway my arcade recently got a Guitar Freaks 9th machine. I noticed that while I was playing a couple songs I chose were waaay too fast for the speed mod. I usually use x5.0 but these were going at about twice that. I thought that songs with a higher BPM would have this problem, but apparently it isn't all with regards to the songs BPM. Is there a rule or some list of songs that have this problem? I just hate being surprised and having to wait for an opening in the song to slow it down. Thanks!

yea its normal for GF games all the way up to 9th, Because 10th is where they got the speed mods right. It throws you off a lot because you would think a song with a BPM of 128 is not all that bad on 4 speed and a song with a BPM of over 200 would be too fast on 3 speed.
