Default GUITAR FREAKS for PSX (need help from japanese speaking member!)

hi there,

i recently purchased guitar freaks / drummania for my modded ps2... the japanese game works fine.

i then purchased guitar freaks 1 for the PSX... my PS2 doesn't read it, it goes straight to the memory card meny... fine. I went online and bought a modded PSX. The game loaded 1 screen then shows what i think is an error message.

What i wanna know is... what in the... is the error hehehe

THANK YOU!

That would be the anti-mod message that almost all PS-X Bemani games have.

You're using a non-Japanese PS-X or PS2. Either you need to get a anti-mod bypass code (like a GameShark code), stealth mod chip, or a patched game.

i live in canada, and this is on a modded psx... i think it was purchased in indonesia but the guy told me the console was from japan... hm...

what method would you suggest and how?

cuz i read that a guy succeeded in reading a backup of the game with a game enhancer... like this one

External Game Enhancer ModChip

do you think it's a possibility?

you need a stealth mod if you have a legit game
(i got a PSOne and i think most of those made for that system were stealth enabled)
if you have the fat gray Playstation i dont think the swap discs will bypass the mod detection

I do believe they're still internal only. I've never heard of an external stealth mod. This may be outdated info (since I stopped following mod chip stuff after the PSOne...)...but from what I understand of anti-mod schemes, they check for the hardware region code, or possibly for the presence of a mod chip as well (to see if the boot-code is being bypassed). If you have a swap disc or external mod, you'll be SOL unless you have a corresponding GameShark code for that particular game.

-If you have the old gray PS-X, you CAN get an external mod like the one in your picture, and find a GameShark bypass code.

-If you have a PSOne or PS-X, if you're using a Swap Magic-type mod, you should be able to use a GameShark bypass code (same as above).

-If you have either PSOne or PS-X, you may also get a stealth mod chip (internal only). It'll save you the trouble of finding any bypass codes for other PS-X anti-mid protected games.

Soldering PS-X or PSOne stealth chips are considerably easier than PS2-next gen systems (like, 10-20 wires easier). If you know someone that can kind-of solder, as long as there's corresponding diagrams, it really shouldn't be difficult.

Also, to check which region your PS-X is from, look at the bottom for the SCPH code. Generally, anything that says SCPH-1000, 5500, 7000, 7500, etc. is Japanese, 1001, 5501, 7001, and 7501 are American. There are more model #'s, but I can't remember them...those are the basic gray PS-X model codes though.
