Default Guitar Hero Controller w/ Guitar Freaks V?

Hello...I recently purchased Guitar Freaks V from lik-sang I already had Guitar Hero & Guitar controller. I checked online and found a few resources even a few comments I had seen before buying it on the Lik-Sang site...but now I get it the other day and whenever I plug in the Guitar it just scrolls through all the songs automatically [its almost like the Left and Right are stuck held down] Does anyone know why this is happening or a setting I could change to avoid this?

Hi!

As far as I know, you have got to modify the controller in order for it to work with Guitar Freaks.

Friend of mine did it and it works great if you want i can ask him how he did it!

The Guitar Hero controller holds down left so that the GH game can identify if you're using a GH controller or a regular one.

There is no setting in V to disable this. The best you could do is to set the GF controls to Type-C. You'll have to swap controllers with a regular controller to choose your song. Even with this, you won't have much luck clearing songs harder than 20 because strumming up does nothing, you'll have to split your fingers pressing the 2nd, 4th, and 5th frets, and you have to down-strum everything. This is due to the Type-C setup, where only one of the directions (I forget which) is defined as picking instead of both and the button combo doesn't exactly line up with the GH frets.

-----

In other news:
The GF controller works almost perfectly with Guitar Hero.

The only catch is that both directions on the GF strum is up on a regular controller, and obviously you can only play songs on Easy with 3 notes only. You can't go downward on the song selection screen with it. Just swap a regular controller to choose the song and swap before you play the song. The three frets are synced with the three pods on the screen.

I actually hate Guitar Hero, but have always been interested in the GF and DM series. Is getting a GH Guitar worth getting just for GF? Is there any faqs for the needed modifications?

This may be a bit strange to ask, but is there anyway I could contact him or you could ask him for me? I assume the controller works fine by default with the other games, just V is the problem, correct?

Hey Fireflake, do you have instructions from your friend on how to do the mod?

I'm really excited to play guitar freaks while actually being able to pick up and not have to skip a fret.

I've heard from many people that those are really cheap and break very easily. Usually 3rd party controllers aren't that good, you're better off just getting a official KOC.

yeah the topway controller for gf is really really bad, it's not worth the money. I am also waiting to see how one could modify a GH controller so it could work perfectly on GF.

I heard that using GH controller on GF was a nuisance. Modifications are really needed.

If you want to experience GF at home, use a Topway-made one instead.
