Default Guitar Hero Guitar..will it work for GF?

I know the Guitar Hero guitar has MORE ..of those...buttons..but umm can it work for GF ?

just wondering..itd save me some money and hassle since i can just pick one of those up here D:

i know this is a weird question ..
its just ...technically i think u can even get the beatmania board to work even tho..u know that wouldnt b so dandy.
i mean taiko tatakon opperates as a normal ps2 remote as does ddr mats etc
so could a ps2 guitar hero guitar function and read properly as a GF guitar?
assuming u use like first 3 or last 3 colored buttons and then of course the strum etc?

Yes, GuitarFreaks will pick it up as a regular PS2 controller. You just have to map the buttons properly, I'm not sure what the exact buttons are, but a bit of mucking around will do it.
Just in the song select screen, you'll need to choose a song with a *real* regular PS2 controller, since the Guitar Hero controller is constantly holding down "left" (that's how the Guitar Hero game knows whether or not to put on auto strum)

Here are what the Guitar Hero buttons map to. Reconfigure as you see fit.

Green - R2
Red - O
Yellow - Triangle
Blue - X
Orange - Square
Pick Up - Up
Pick Down - Down
Wailing - L2

Hold on. Which one are we talking about? It'll work on Silver, Gold, V2, & V3, but it WON'T work on V.

Again, the GH controller has the left button always pressed since that's how it knows you're using a GH controller, so you'll have to switch between DuelShock & GH each time you play a song.

BTW, the buttons described above are for the middle 3 buttons.

yeah, ihappened to have bought "V" and i figured out how to do it, i just unplug hte guitar and replug ps2 control as annoying as that is since u only have 3 control pre-sets that you cannot really fiddle with.

it works out okay gameplay wise.

i just got v2 ready to go so im gonna set that up and see how it works
im excited

but for anyone who does plan to do this..
as long as your not on V or are ready to ...um hav some annoyance hahaha

<3

im glad it worked out for me tho
its all good.

EXTREME TIMMEEEEE

you can try to rewire the buttons. I had a hard time doing it. and I kinda fucked up my GH Controller.

The Desoldering bulb sucks. dont get it.
