Does anyone know if the above controller works for guitar freaks? all i can find is info thats it works with guitar hero and no info on guitar freaks.

I have it. It's the same deal as every other GH controller: it'll work but you have to remap the buttons, and you'll have to unplug it and switch in a regular controller on the song selection screen because it will cause the menu to scroll constantly. It's a pain.
