Is it easy and/or dangerous to dissasemble? I can hardly to stand to play on it the way the pick is now. It's just that different from what I'm used to.

It's pretty easy. Just a bunch of screws. As long as you know how to handle disassembled electronics without breaking them, you'll be fine.

I'll let you be the guinea pig, Checky.

Sanwa doesn't make the pick, so that would be a no. You'd have to get a replacement pick from Konami or something like that if you're looking for a new pick assembly.

How long is akihabarashop's usual downtime?

It's been a week and I am anxious to order some parts... I want to make an arcade stick out of my old PSone controller... and some new sanwas for the GF too

Seeing all this talk of the buttons and pick being hard to use makes me sad =(

I hope when mine comes in that it'll be at least on the same level as the controllers at my arcade....

IF I ever have this problem with my buttons, I will replace the springs.

As for the pic, keep breaking it in guys, eventually you will get used to it after a while.

My pic is ALMOST broken in, if I keep playing Venus or Sanagi (I really hope I got that damn kanji symbol right (its the 198 BPM song in Masterpiece Gold), then I should be ok).

lol Checky, nice way of putting that, like a dream, lmao I will remember that when I "futurestically" fix my buttons.

For now, play piano, use a "gripping exercise" device (like a bicycle handle or a "grips" (a weightlifting-training tool that strengthens your fingers) or simply do finger push-ups and you guys should be fine .

I know I know, I talk to much, but I hope this helps.

See yaz bye.

The whole point of the ASC (y'know, Arcade-Style Controller) is to give you a playing experience nearly identical to that of the arcade controllers. I don't think that playing 4-6 months should be a requirement just to get your guitar the way you want, but maybe that's just me. I figure paying $300 for a peripheral kinda gives you that sort of entitlement, especially since its complexity pales in comparison to that of a drum set, for example

What? I'm fairly sure I don't use my gripping muscles to pick. You got it right before, though -- in the meantime, you may as well strum the hardass pick anyway, since you have nothing better to do...

and the kanji is 蛹 :p

Considering a arcade controller gets played on by hundreds of people, it makes perfect sense as to why it needs to be broken in.

You need to do what hundreds (thousands even) of people have done over years.

another thing I would like to point out, that there is an old philosophy: Bigger is better.

Meaning, that if the keys are a bit "over-straining", thats good, because that way, you can adapt quite well between the home controller and the arcade. Eventually your fingers will get stronger and you will be able to past certain songs that were hard from long ago.

I realized this when I was playing Venus (god I love that song, the V3 one that is, not the one from...DM2nd?? correct me if im wrong please lol).

Thats my 2 cents.

See yaz bye.

Default Update: Changed my Keys

As you can see, the keys I ordered ended up NOT being exactly the same as the ones found in the stock ASC. The switches are the same but the caps are not, and they do not have the extra mold in the cap to hold the spring in place.

I am not sure if you can even buy the spring loaded versions, but I don't understand why anyone would want to play with a stiff spring anyway. I would recommend to everyone to just remove their springs.

And now, for the new result:

Holy shit that looks awesome. Where did you order your buttons? I've wanted to do the same thing for a while but I wanted the rims of the buttons to still be black.

your guitar looks a lot like the ones we have here, jubrany

In fact, there is only ONE of 5 or 6 GF machines in Vancouver that has controllers with black keys XD

he mentioned he ordered his buttons from here

They only have one square button though ;/

Ok, how exactly did you disassemble the buttons? When I disassembled my GF ASC, I noticed that the buttons seem to be crazy-clued, then I realize that there are "tabs" that I notice on teh sides of each button.

Thus, how exactly does this work?? I could never figure this part otu lol.
