Default Keyboard Mania PC Technical help

Ok so i finally got Keyboardmania PC, and the hack to use any Midi input keyboard (so i don't have to use the Yamaha one only). Though my question is simply this

Question:
Is there anyway to take a USB PC Joystick and program it's inputs as Midi inputs?

Things I have:
I have the PS2 Keyboardmania KOC. My computer detects it as a USB Multipurpose Controller. It's keys register as Joystick Buttons 7-32, skipping 21 & 27 as the Start and Select buttons. I can use a program called GlovePie to play the midi notes, but thats simply all it does. I need a way to press a key on the this controller and my computer detect it as a Midi Input, and I program what that input is.

If this is impossible then i will face that fact and just go buy a MIDI keyboard eventually but right now i don't have the cash and I love the challenge. Please if you can help with anything, even if you don't have the complete solution, any info is useful. Thanks again
