Keyboardmania PC problems

Hi I have the keyboardmania PC version with the patch/hack thing and a M-audio keystation 49e midi controller. For some reason when i start KBM with the usb midi controller the KBM screen flickers really bad with black stripes. the first time i tried it, it didn't have flickering. The even bigger problem i have is that when u try the menus or start a song there is no music and keypresses don't produce sound. the only sounds that can be heard are the voices.

on the other hand, if i do not have the midi controller plugged in on usb there is midi music but still flickering.

I am running windows xp with a 60 hertz refresh rate

if anybody knows a quick fix to these problems that would be great or anything at all

Well, the flickering happened to me whenever the KBM window was not in focus.

But about the sound... I mean your keyboard doesn't even have speakers, so it's pretty obvious that you don't hear anything don't you think?

I guess you could "force" windows to do the midi-playback, but you would need a XG-compatible soundcard (which is extremely rare to say the least) to get proper soundquality.


If you wanna play KBM PC you need XG-compatible midi hardware

Yamaha makes an XG-compatible software synth that might work (it was bundled with Final Fantasy VII for PC, but that version is outdated and doesn't work with XP)

Here's a demo of the only Windows XP-compatible version of the synth. Good luck finding this one legally, it's been discontinued.
