Default Konami GF controller questions

Alright, so I've been using a 3rd party GH controller I got as a gift to play the CS release of GF. It's gotten me by and I don't complain(especially since it was a gift ) but I'm taking a trip to japan in February and want to get an official Konami controller since the price isn't too steep(3,980yen) and I dont need to deal with shipping. but i have a few questions:

1. How much does the box weigh/how long is it? I'm concerned because I dont want the thing not fitting in the luggage I'm taking, as well as going over the limit with the baggage weight. So if anyone has the controller or just knows how much it weighs, I'd appreciate that info.

2. Availability: If i happen into a random game shop what are the chances I will find one? I know play-asia is sold out but that may or may not reflect Japan's availability.

3. Irrelevant, but if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate this. I'm getting a friend a PS2 in Japan and just need the weight/size of the box as well as any info regarding availability. I know, not relevant, but I'm just going to ask so i dont have to go making a new thread in a new forum.

You can just lock this thread afterwards, as I realize it's rather useless. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the KOC? At 3300 yen I assume so.

The box is approximately 2.5 feet, but 9 inches, by 4 inches. It weights no more than about 3 pounds.

I can get exacts for you tomorrow...

GF KOC should be about the same length and weight as your 3rd party controller. I wonder if we have the same one? Mine has 6 buttons!!

LOL I sure as hell am not bringing some fat shit system with me. Thanks for the dimensions for the slim though, aeriyu. If anything I think I have the box from my old one and I dont know why i didnt just think of getting that >_>
I dont think we have the same controller. Mine is this Nyko one. I loled when I was parked next to this guy and he had the same one in his backseat.

My 3rd party one seems to match the box measurements my58vw posted. I guess I will need a bigger suitcase -_-;

Do want an answer to no.2 at this point, so if anyones been to japan please let me know. I dont want to lug teh huge suitcase around for nothing.

I was there a year and a half ago, but they were around then. You had a better chance finding it at a bigger place (like a Best Denki), but they were around. I really wouldn't be able to tell you what it's like now, though.

Go to some Hard-off shop.

You will find cool bemanis very cheap.

Send them by EMS, is not very expensive

I can answer 2 for you. These controllers aren't manufactured anymore I think, you can't even buy them on Konamistyle (only the ASC). I keep my eye out for these things and they're nearly impossible to find new.

Your best bet is looking in a recycle shop, I saw one at a hard-off for around 6000yen I think, and another one at a local joint for around 3000. However, these are the only two I've seen, and I go to these shops pretty often. Other Bemani controllers are much easier to find for some reason.

Not sure where you're going in Japan, but if you're in Tokyo, your best shot would be at Akihabara I guess. Might get lucky.

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess its mixed opinions on availability? I'd just go with yours, original z, to be safe.

I think I may go to Akiba for at least a day but then again I'm not sure(I really want to check out Shibuya too so I'm trying to see if I can go to both or on separate days). What I'm hoping for is finding a smaller shop that doesn't get many customers that might have one. Chanes? probably none but I want to try.

(I found out I can take the controller as an extra carry on baggage though, like people take guitar cases. I will be the biggest nerd on the airplane if that ideas follows through)

I live in Kofu, and I found a brand new controller for 3900~ yen at a really small shop in a REALLY small city (Yamanashi-shi). I think it might be a freak accident that they have this controller, the KM pack, and the KM2/3 game. There's a shop here in Kofu called Mandai Shouten that has the absolute BIGGEST second-hand game section (really biggest game section period) I've seen in my life. Of course, there's little reason to go to Kofu but hey, just offering what I can for ya!

Indeed, Hard-off is the SHIT for used hardware. Picked two 5-keys for BM in the junk bin for 300 apiece and they work fine. Unfortunately I've only personally seen the DMKoC that I bought today in Yamanashi-shi. I'll check in tomorrow when I stop by Mandai Shouten just to give you an idea of stock as far as they go (I need a GF controller now ^_^)

March 22nd eh? Damn, I'll be back in the states before then so we can't meet up and session ^_^

I checked out Mandai Shouten, and as usual they have a huge stock of different stuff but it's just a bit expensive compared to the other deals I've seen.

- regular DM KoC(no stand) ¥6000
- DM pack (KoC, stand, DM 1 game) ¥15000(not half bad really)

and I believe they had most of the games too.

edit: Also, a single used GH KoC for 5000 yen

editedit: GF* (I hate myself =[ )

Doesn't sound so bad for the GF(not GH XD) controller. I'm really hoping I can find a good game shop because I get this sinking feeling I won't.

Oh, and I'll be in Saitama prefecture. It's a city farther from Tokyo called Fukaya. I'll only be there for about 6 days, so yeah. Leaving Monday and counting the hours. Thanks for the help; I didn't think people would give me any info.
