I've read many many things about the foamy bass pedal and stuff, but I really need to know.....is it really THAT bad? Can it be worked around without modding it? I remember in the arcades how pressing the bass pedal felt (like a real one lol), but it has been a while anywayz.
I don't plan on getting the DTX/expensive-type drum sets for this game right now; I'm overly interested in opinions and information regarding the DM KOC. Is it the next best thing to playing DM on Dual Shock?

Think about it this way - if Drummania was originally designed to be played like that, would you have liked it?

Get a Dao ASC or move to somewhere you can play the arcade.

I even learned how to do a lot of upper level songs on the tiny thing (and adjusting from KOC to arcade wasn't really that hard when I actually got to play on one). Adjusting from arcade to KOC is hard though...if you're used to playing on the arcade, don't bother, you'll hate the KOC. Also, if you're already playing upper level songs on the arcade, then yes, the KOC will suck.
But I attribute most of my DM learning from a KOC.

You can spend as little or as much as you like on a new pair of drumsticks at your local music store, and it won't be hard to find a pair of sticks that feels good to you. We had a thread on this board about sticks and what peoples' preferences are, but it's a personal matter so I would recommend that thread just to give you suggestions. In any case, nobody should ever complain about being stuck with the shitty sticks that come with the controller, because it's practically a non-issue.
That being said, I have never had the chance to play on a KOC, but I would imagine that until you get some serious chops you'll probably be alright. If you're looking for low-commitment, why not go with this cheapest option and then sell it to someone else if you decide that you want something better?

as already mentioned, the point isn't that you *can't* play well on a KOC, it's just no fun.
It's also not a good idea to use regular sticks on a KOC / Topway, as they use fairly soft plastic pads that can easily be broken by the heavier hitting of regular length wooden sticks.

I honestly had my eyes on the DM KOC w/stand+ DM1st bundle for $200+, but seeing NOBODY supporting the DM KOC (except on Play-Asia's comment section on it) here, I guess I'll have to wait until dj dao's DM ASC is ready in production and distribution.
I've played in the arcades and I've enjoyed it alot and I realize the size difference (KOC vs AC), but I thought that most people would get used to it like the pop'n mini...guess not for DM's KOC. =/

i mean funky sonic world EXT on a KOC drum is just wrong heh
plus Timepiece Phase II is awkward on a KOC since the snare>hi hat> cymbal transitions are just strange to me playing open handed
in the end you will want to either play at an arcade or get a DTX or you wont get any better

CStarFlare and some guy on YouTube (search "DM KOC") got really decent on it, so I want to give it a try. My only thing is.........where the heck would I find a 3" stand for it. x_x
