So im thinking of getting into Drummania, but i have a couple of questions first. 1. are the menus in the games mostly english (like iidx?) or enough english so i know what im doing ? 2. which game should i start off ( i never played drummania but ive played rock band a couple of times) so a newbie friendly game would be good (espcially one i can find easliy on the net , my import store has masterpiece gold is that any good )? 3 . which controller is best to get for a beginner ? thanks guyz.

yes, the menus from what I've seen are easy to understand, I haven't got any CS releases so I'm not sure about options menu's, but I just put my credit in, read "standard" and know that's the mode I want, a lot of song titles are in hiragana, but there are plenty of songs with an english title like bad music freaks and blood and thunder.
I can't really comment on which game you should get, I've only ever played V4, but you should easily find all the good ones on play-asia.com for easiness.
choosing a set is the hard bit, the KOC is a chore to play on (so I've heard) and the bass drum is apparently total shit.
but the only good controllers are MIDI sets and the DJDAO arcade style controller, all of which are hundreds of dollars, you might end up REALLY regretting it if you spend all that money and don't end up liking the game (but that shouldn't happen if you like drumming on rock band)
this goes back to my earlier comment: try to find an arcade that has the game first.

I asked them if i could buy the machine, and said maybe if they cant get it fixed.

If there aren't any in your location, then you'll have to buy the game from play-asia. Unfortunately I did buy the KOC DM controller and used it like 2 or 3 times. Yea it's that bad, at least in my experience anyway. I would definitely get the DJ Dao DM ASC if you got the cash.
Hopefully there will be an arcade nearby your location so that you can practice a bit first.

if you are hardcore get a DTXpress set (used if you can find it locally) and a UX-16 MIDI>USB adaptor
or a DJDAO
with a KOC dont expect to get any better then 70s mid 80s as some songs are just not naturally possible with the position of the hihat and the snare without some awkward drum stick positioning

Total Tokens: 5,586.29 Donate Tokens | opethian: I play open hand on the arcade and have passed lots of 90s. Over There is definitely possible (hell, FC-able) open handed, I just suck too much to make it (got close, though). There's really no pattern you can't play open handed...sure, there's some where you have to do some awkward double-beating, but then that holds true for playing cross hand too. It's more preference than anything else.
My KOC broke when I was still a lvl 60-70 player, but I could pass stuff on it at the same level as I could pass at the arcade. My main issue with the KOC is that playing with it isn't any *fun*. I'm sure there's people out there who've done 90+ songs on the KOC though.

It's probably safe to say that the rock band set is close to the topway in terms of "fun". Neither are really like the actually drummania set, far from it, but you can still manage to play the game. If you're content with that, then fine. Otherwise, DTX is the (only, except the DJDao and possibly other electric drum kits)way to go.

Total Tokens: 1,214.28 Donate Tokens | Be more accurate? If you know the song then I would suggest trying to be in time with it as possible. Don't "get lazy" when playing or you'll go off-beat, thus more greats/goods/etc.
I'm not such a great PAer myself, so you should probably ask the better people around here for their advice.

Really get into the song, don't be afraid to act like a lunatic enjoying the song, I find that's the best way to keep in time.

Then you just need practice.
