Default MIDI-USB convertor

Hi guys,

i'm getting my dtxplorer tomorrow. But i can't get my hands on a UX16. As according to yamaha they have run out here, in Australia. "Yamaha" even said to try other branded MIDI-USB convertors as they have completely run out and won't be getting any shipment soon.

So my question is, does it have to be UX16? has anyone tried with any other branded MIDI-USB convertor? I've read many posts and they suggest only UX16 but under my circumstances i had to post this post. Please understand my view.

I await your guidance/expertise.

Cheers,
Fu

Hi, I have a DTXpressII and being unable to find a UX16 I tried another USB-MIDI interface (the UM-1ex).

Unfortunetly the PS2 doesn't seem to recognise it, because the indicator doesn' light itself when I plug it in and everything (PS2 & DTX) is switched on...

So my bet would be : yes you have to get a UX16... guess I'll have to look for one myself now!

Only the UX-16 will work, because the PS2 games come only with the drivers for the UX16 and no other controller.

If you're playing on a PC sim, most MIDI to USB converters will work.

OMG, i found a ux16.

after relentless effort in searching, i found a ux16 brand new in australia and it arrived today. Now i can jam.

My last resort was going to be eBay which would have cost me an arm and a leg to get to my location.

But never the less, me and a mate of mine called around nationally, to all the small music stores and managed to get one and one only.

Time and effort truly paid off.

Its time to jam, over and out.

This will sound really stupid... but what do you need a MIDI to USB for? Doesn't GH/DM have their own controller... or is this for KBM....?

Thanks ΩOMEGAΩ, unfortunatly he doesn't ship to France... But it's okay I found one (rather expensive I must say...)

But I am now facing another problem, my DTXpressII doesn't seem to be recognised by the game.... Do I have to Buy another module? (DTXplorer or DTXpressIII) Or is there something I must activate that I haven't activated?
Thanks

PS : Dreamcube017 the USB MIDI interface is to play DM with a DTX drum kit, much better than the KOC.

Hehe sorry, Pasko is right that was the problem... silly me, I didn't plug it in right !

Anyway it works fine thanks to A friend of mine I called who figured out the problem.

PS : Merci Pasko! Je commençais à m'inquiéter...lol le IN dans le OUT c'est pas tout à fait évident selon moi...hehe
