Default PS2 GuitarFreaks questiosn

8D Hey guys~ So I have some questions I want to ask you C: and hopefully you guys have the answers to them.

So tomorrow I will attempt to get PS2 Guitarfreaks + the Guitar! What PS2 version should I get? Should I get the V3, Gold or Silver? :T And some songs I want to be on there for sure is: Agunus Dei, that bunny moon greek letter song, Model FT2/Miracle Version, Die Zauberflote (Spelling?), Fairy Tales, Over there, Timepiece Phase II.

And yea, to your opinions, which one would be the best? Or is there a site that shows a list of the songs on the PS2?

Also, do you have to unlock songs to play them? Like how in DDR there's that point system, is there anything in the GuitarFreaks PS2 version? I'm not Japanese so I can't read anything = 3=;; so yea.

So thank you guys for reading ~

V has a slot machine unlock system. You get GP depending on the roll of the slots and songs get unlocked when you gain a certain amount. The only bad thing about V's unlock system is that there are two songs, Homesick Pt2&3, and BreakDown!, that can only be unlocked by time-unlock and you have to play the game for around 30 hours to get them. I recommend getting a fully-unlocked save for this one.

Silver has a frustrating unlock system. You get a grid of 16 panels. By luck you have to reveal the covered panels with stars that jump all over the panel. If a star hits a panel that's already revealed, nothing happens. On top of all that, a handful of the unlocks are useless wallpapers. It's strongly recommended to either use the time-unlock feature by disabling roulette unock in the options, or find a fully-unlocked save online and use that.

V2 has an easy unlock system where you just have to hit a certain color on a speeding row of different colored signs. Whenever you win 2 or 3 times in a row, you get one to three songs unlocked.

Gold has the same roulette unlock system as Silver but much less stressful. The stars will only appear on panels that are covered, not all over the place. Stuff gets unlocked much more faster because of this.

V3 has Extra Rush. A meter fills up after each completed song and gives you an unlocked song after the meter is completely filled up.

I'd flip a coin between V2 and MP Gold. I was bored of V3 after a month, V is out-of-print now, and Silver was very frustrating because of that dumb roulette system and might also be out-of-print. V2 felt like it was the most balanced mix in terms of difficulties on GF, and Gold has the most songs that I enjoyed in the arcade.

V3 also takes the shortest compared to MP Silver & Gold, though since V3 was my 3rd GF/DM, I might've just been good enough to unlock it fast.

I heard V3 unlocks are more based on how well you play, but I think that only referred to titles. Same here, I unlocked stuff like that without even noticing the unlock system. Battle mode is great though, can't get bored with that imo.

Maybe get V2 first if you are looking into GF, since MPG had that perfect issue thing. Still, if you like classics over old songs then just get one of the MP releases.

Another thing you should be aware of (and I want people to listen to this too ). Is that when you play the earlier version of Guitar Freaks, be sure to synchronize your controller's timing in the options menu. That way, you wont get so many goods/greats and all that other crap that can make you nail a wall...ok to far there (j/k).

Anywayz, keep that in mind.

See yaz bye.

I would just buy oldest to newest, or old & new games together until you have them all.

As for unlocking, I don't even consider it a factor with BEMANI anymore. I just copy a save file. It's already a hassle to be playing CS versions, and I don't consider unlocking content to be fun... well, on second thought, pop'n 14 was kind of an exception.

PS - Pick up an ASC when you get a chance.
