Total Tokens: 91.61 Donate Tokens | PS3 Ion Drum Kit Does anyone know if there is a way to get the PS2/PS3 Ion Drum Kit to work on DTXmania? Normally when you use a controller on DTX such as the RB drum set you can just easily go into the configuration with the controller plugged in and config the buttons easy. Unfortunately the problem with the Ion Drum Kit is that when you hit a single button your actually hit two. According the windows game controller thing.
For Example if I hit the Left Cymbal, it will register as me hitting the 4 and 12 buttons.
The problem with this is that the cymbals share the button 12 and the pads share the button 11. This cause some cross interference or something causing DTXmania to only pick up the 11 and 12 button when you hit the cymbals and pads.
Is there anyway at all to fix this problem/rewrite code/use a shady program in order to get this to work. It's the only reason I bought the Ion Drum Kit and I think I may have wasted $300 lol

Saved 250 more and you could have a drumset
that works on Drummania, DTXmania, a stage (barring that you can find an amp), and various programs on your computer.
Return it if you can. | |

This will allow you to hook up your set to the computer and drummania. You can tac on another $200 for a module and usb interface. Other than that, bring back the ion and get a real kit but then you can't play RB. I got a Yamaha DTXplorer module from Musician's Friend | Your Online Music Instrument & Pro Audio Store | Best Prices, Great Service. Sometimes they have scratch and dent models and you can save some money that way.

A RB "drum module" probably works just as well as a regular drum module. So plugging it in to yamaha pads would probably work just the same. Anyone have access to this much stuff to yay/nay it?

Do this. Take 1 of your pads to Guitar Center (including cable), or any other retail store that sells Yamaha brand E-drums. They will be more than willing to let you plug it into a DTX module (assuming they have one on the floor), and if it registers- voila. I would probably suggest taking the "bass pedal" as well. Who knows? You might be able to find a good deal there on a DTX module.

So if your only goal is to play DTXMania then any Alesis module will work. If you want to also be able to play Drummania on the PS2, then you want a yamaha module. You will then have to get some type of kick trigger like a roland KD-8 or Yamaha KP65 and a kick pedal. You could just get a kick pedal and use one of your pads as a kick trigger, then all you need is a kick pedal.

Not much there you don't already know, but at least you can use my gui reskins.
Dunno why people rag on the Ion set. I love mine. While it's true you need a brain for DTXmania, there's no better way to play Rock Band (if you wanted to buy it). Also, Andrew Rudson (of Drum Machine) is working on getting the cymbals to work.
EDIT: You COULD use Joy2Key (see my sig) if you don't mind your low tom going off every time you hit the cymbal.
Lastly, I didn't know you could post about DTXMania in here? My posts are languishing unread in the session simulation board. I posted up a DTX there too. Check it out, if you want to have a laugh. Dare you to sightread it. Quote:

Btw, the "Mederi" mentioned there is actually "Medeli", which is what the Ion kits really are. Many companies buy them and rebrand them...Simmons, Ion, Drumdouche, etc.....(ok, I made the last one up). Digital Drum - DD505(D)
Of course, it's really the brain that matters. If the brain works with DTXMania, and your drums work with the brain, you're set.
As most/all drum brains have programmable input sensitivity, the drums will work with basically anything.........except for maybe the on/off kick pedal, but really it's a hi-hat pedal anyway...so you'd wanna buy a kick trigger, and use the pedal for rhythmic millinery.
Oh, and just for fun, I scanned it with the googly eye: Translated version of http://drum.shop.boy.jp/?eid=468408

I found the DD-502 drum brain on there with a $125 buy-it-now. Looking at reviews ( "dd-502" brain - Google Search), it's not gigging quality, but apparently it's great for beginners/learning and we already know it works with DTXMania. Combine that with the Midi-USB cable, and you're good to go for the least amount of money.
