On the former

Not because I want to......but because I'm kinda forced too.

I blame it on the "suction-like" pattern (aka alternating hi-hat & bass drum then hi-hat & snare cycle).

That's the same reason why I suck bad on Funky Sonic World ext.

Since the closest DM AC is a 3rd mix an hour away...

I play on DTXplorer. I try to find points that differentiate between crash and cymbal, and hit the according pads...

...similarly for open/closed hi hat...

for songs that are tom heavy, if I can manage it I play around with all three- but usually break my combo that way.

The only other thing I can think of is strange techniques, like doing a roll (most notedly on "Gently, the Rain sings for me") and rolling one handed the last 2 snare notes... I think this is because I play left handed.

And " pretend double bass"? Do you mean actually using a DB pedal when not needed?

Pretend double bass = stomping both feet in 16th's with the beat while your right foot is only doing 8ths on a single pedal!

Gah, now I'm reminded of what I did when I played Nocturne No. 9 for the first time on DM V.

I was too infused by how wonderful the song was (same also went for when I played Venus Ext. the first time).

Granted, I don't do that anymore.........but for hard songs that I want to pass (like El Dorado ext.), I may have to put some emotion into it.

You mean the part where everyone sings after the Can-Can part? Yeah, I sometimes head-bang to that too.

Hmm.......

In my case, I used to do something during the 'jazzy' guitar part. Like I kinda swing around a bit (like in a jazz club or something :P).

Then when the hard rock part hits, then it's back to..............

Granted, I only did that when the song was first introduced in 5th Mix.

Nowadays, fast forward to V4, I don't do that anymore :P

I tend to be low-profile

Most of the time, I'm just looking at the chart so I know what notes to play/hold down. Once I know a chart VERY well will I do other things.
