Default RAND and SRA on guitar freaks

I think having random on or super random (provided it doesnt make the song near impossible to play ie misirlou adv ext) does help you learn and get better at guitar freaks more effectively. Anyone agree with me?

Random and/or Super Random on any rhythm game helps you improve at a much faster rate... Pretty sure this has been addressed -- not just in the GF/DM forums either.

The difficulty between Super Random and Normal are COMPLETELY different.

E.g. Herring Roe, Hello You, Wonderful Workers difficulty jumps UP.

I play SRA on songs that I can nearly Excellent so it can be a bit more difficult.

RAN for normal play, SRA for showing off

It's manageable for constant-speed songs like 大切なもの, 愚然, Desert Rain, 月光蝶, etc and songs with either slower hyperpicking or short/virtually inexistent sections of normal hyperpick, ie: Green Lime, 明鏡止水, カゴノトリ

Pass Misirlou on SRA = mad props

I'll pass on the NORMAL version of Misirlou, thanks...

I haven't played all songs on SRA, but I agree that it helps.

But here's the real awesome part.

It takes songs that are too easy, that you don't really play any more - and especially if you unfortunately LIKED the song itself - and makes them a lot more interesting and difficult enough to get something out of!

I love the fact that I can play a level 30 or 40 or 50 song that I don't touch much anymore due to the low difficulty, throw in SRA, and once again enjoy it. It prolongs the game. Songs like For The Future are Zzzzzzzzz on normal EXT, but with SRA it kept it interesting for me and I'm learning things from it too.

*I'm not so sure about you guys, but I do run into a good amount of songs that turn near-impossible for me in SRA.

And of course there are the songs that get easier with SRandom (I'm looking at you, Right on Time EXT).

Yes, it's true, songs such as Green Lime, Tocatta, etc. do get easier with SRAN, but for the majority of songs it makes them a bitch to play. I've found the playing with random really, really helps you to get better very fast. Before, I never played it, and you actually get used to the notecharts, and knew what was coming. For example, I could consistently A Children's Sketchbook EXT without random. The first day I was playing with random, I tried it, and I got a C.. Q_Q. So yeah, after awhile I was able to A it again, but using random exposes you to new patterns that you normally wouldn't see, and keeps songs that you love to play from getting stale and boring, because it's always different notes.

Famiresu SRAN = fun time.

*koff koff* I humbly submit the exception to the rule - SRA Drummania really would be no fun at all.

hey, maybe THAT'S how they can finally fox the insane Japanese guys! =)

I actually miss Branch mode. It was an utterly useless modifier, and no-one used it, but it still had its moments... Like try Hid+Sud+Branch :P Basically impossible

Nah, I did that all the time. Hid+Sud+Branch+Rev+Dark = WHEEE. Not on DM, though - THAT would have been impossible. Heh.

SRA is one of the options you can change in the Play Style Menu. To get there, there are a few methods:

- hold B and press Start after you put your money into the machine (that automatically selects PSM)
- hold B and press Start at the "session" screen; you'll see PSM go from greyed to bolded if you do it correctly
- hold Start after you select a song

most of the modifiers in there are self-explanatory, but feel free to ask if you don't get anything

I hate to bug, what what is Branch Mode? Having played DM for two years now, I'm suprised I haven't heard of this.
