Default Retard Newbie Question

Which Drummania should I get that isn't V? I've got V and it absolutely refuses to load, so I'm going to try to sell or trade it for another PS2 Drummania game. Which one should I get? I can take a look at songlists, but I don't have any clue as to whether interface is an issue or not.

I'm already getting Masterpiece Silver when it comes out so don't say that.

I haven't played drummania, but I've played GF3rd/DM2nd and GF4th/DM3rd. The interface on both of them is very, very old and crappy looking. It's not an issue for me, but neither is very good, so if shitty interfaces bother you, don't get either (-_-;;). In my opinion, you should just grab the OSTs for both of them and pick based on that. (I prefer GF4th/DM3rd myself.)

Oof, tough call. Drummania itself is really a joke compared to today. It has Heaven is a '57 Metallic Grey going for it but not much more. GF3/DM2 has a decent mix of songs (I'll Remember You to Used Cars to Primal Soul, etc.) but still feels lacking when compared to GF4/DM3. That one delivers some awesome CS songs (Session X'mas and Star of Muse are the greatest things ever) and you have Bonus Tracks to mess with. So yeah, GF4/DM3 is easily the way to go.

4th/3rd has a good selection of songs to check out like:

Newspaper
Right on Time
Captain's Voyage
I'm Gonna Get You
Classic Party 2
Sea Anenomes (I dont know how to spell this shit)
Day Dream (You know, if you like bullshit cymbal rides.)

That is unfortunately the only decent V alternative till Masterpiece Silver comes out.

Personally, I say wait until Masterpiece Silver. My big beef with GF4DM3 is that a large batch of those games came out with buggy support for drums (even KOC), and it gets old pretty fast.

Plus you can't change difficulty mid-game with any current CS mix before V. This is annoying. Also note that if you have/intend to get a DTX drumkit, they are not supported in any CS mix prior to Gitadora 4th/3rd - which makes me sad as there are some nice songs on the earlier mixes

Forget DM1, its laggy even with the official dm pads. Guitars are way off too. Only speed 1 and 1.5 can play this game. Playing across the nightmare on speed 1 can give you seizures with all the psychadelic flashes.

Gitadora1 and 2 seemed like a good mix if you like old-skool dm songs. Part 1 is strictly a port of GF3DM2 without Love Affair, part 2 has them exclusives like Star of Muse.

If you're more of a new-gen player into the current DM trend, stick to Silver.

IMO GF4thDM3rd and GF3rdDM2nd, quality-price are not worth it. I'm curious as to why V refuses to load. You have a chipped PS2 or a Japanese one?

Japanese. Basically, I bought it and it took 10 tries to load. Then it froze when I chose Daikenkai. Then it never loaded again.

It's been tested on 3 different PS2s which all play it flawlessly so I'm kind of at a loss of what to do about it. :/

Someone mentioned that older PS2s have problems with dual layer games, but I don't think V is. O_o

Right now I'm leaning towards 4/3, but what Baka said worries me. X_x

Japanese PS2. I've had it since 03.

playing GFDM 3/2 had an odd interface which it hard to read what you're playing. Either that or its all my TVs.

For reference, I've had that problem - it can be self-fixed by cleaning/adjusting the laser. (I'm no tech expert at all, but I've done it for mine and a friend's PS2 with no problem.)

However, GF/DM looks to be around 2GB in size, so I also doubt it's a dual-layered.

Regardless, there's still a chance that fiddling with the laser will sill help, especially if you're getting "disc read errors".

Yeah just try some rubbing alcohol (>70% works best) and a q-tip and clean off the little laser eye. Sometimes that actually works wonders.

I have tried that, but maybe another run through wouldn't hurt. :/

I forgot to mention that nothing else gives me any problems. :X
