Where do you stare at the screen?

I'm used to staring at the top of the screen with 2x (my normal setting).

When trying to use 7x, the only way I can succeed is to stare at the middle/bottom of the screen and turn Position B on.

It feels weird.

So for those comfortable with 7x-ish, do you stare at the top of the screen (close to the line) or more to the bottom?

I usually have hidden on, so my eyes probably flirt between the top 30-40%. Sometimes, durng tricky parts if my eyes fall behind I am looking towards the top. During easier songs, I can get away with looking at what feels like the bottom.

I think it's kind of difficult to say accurately from memory, but I think the farther you can look down the screen comfortably, the better.

It's really just all about your reaction time.

Playing at 7.0x is the breaking point where if there is a hard to read section that I have trouble with I'll probably do bad on it because I can't react fast enough.

I have bumped up my playing speed to 6.5x though as I can read that just fine on MOST songs.

The way you play, you'll get to 7.0x speed fine. And you'll be able to read it fast enough even if you don't know the part.

I gradually made my way to 7.0 as well *I'm still new to 7.0.... but it seems like I can replace 6.0/6.5*

I've been playing with 6.5x and reverse scroll, and I....uh I'm not sure, I really zone ouot when I play. I kinda see the whole play area when I play.

YouTube - Guitar Freaks - "Desert Rain" ext 98/2

Dude, STAY at 2x speed. That is impressive. I see very little players that can manage the lower speeds when the songs have so many notes like that.

Also, with that slower speed, you have to focus more at the top of the screen because there's so much to read. With speeds like 7.0x, there is so much space between of course you can look lower. I still think for your own style it would be cool if you could play everything at 2x.

I play 7.5 reverse hidden dark and look in the lower-middleish. Playing without hidden or dark makes it seem awkward and I get off beat.

I guess I stare approximately in the middle of the screen.. Both hidden and sudden, and position A throw me off, so I think I look somewhere right about where the "Perfect, great, etc" display usually is. I recently changed from 7.0x to 7.5x and I'm improving a lot again, lol.

I look a bit above the spot where the Perfects, Greats display appear. When I see Goods, Bads and Misses popping up, I'll look at the yellow bar at the top and correct my picks so they go back to being Perfect.

Wow that is awesome.

I guess it is worth it for me to stay at speed 3.0 after all.

I look just below the judgment line. Though it's also worth nothing that every time I play this game my eyes start to burn after a short period of time...........

Yeah, but if you go to higher speeds something like this might happen:

YouTube - GFV3 Desert Rain extreme random SS FULL COMBO 100% PERFECTS

lo.l the guy playing in 2.0 speed had an SS full combo too. He just had 14 greats. I'm not so sure if the speed had anything to do with it....

By the way, that middle part of Desert Rain ALWAYS fux me up. I've only cleared the song a few times because of it. Any advice? I figure just keep playing it now and then and sooner or later when I come back to it it'll get easier.

You actually have to pick faster during that middle part of the song as it has more of a faster tempo.
