It's in stock! What is the general consensus on this controller? Sucky? I've been using the GH controller so far, and it works fine - but the song scrolling is a pain in me arse. I've also heard the GF ASC (the $300 controllers), have a very stiff pick, so it's hard to alternate strum on very fast tracks.... any truth to that? I've also seen some of you guys write "You just need to break them in."
Anywho, this KOC is $65 and in stock. If it is a great controller, I may have to pick it up and most likely GF & DM V (unless you think the older GF V2 is better).
So how's this controller? Does anyone use it? I am guessing it won't scroll through the song list either.

I would recommend the ASC, but if you can't afford it, then the KOC does the job.

Total Tokens: 3,683.18 Donate Tokens | Does the Arcade Style Controller really kick that much arse? I mean, if it does, I am REALLY tempted to hunker down $313 (the controller from play-asia for $249 and GF & DM V for $64.95) and add those puppies to my list, but if it does not make me want to make love to its frets and neck, perhaps it would be wiser to get this $65, along with V (and heck, even V2 if you guys feel V and V2 are different enough to warrant both purchases).
These are some fun and tough decisions. I guess it all comes down to how much arse does the ASC kick, or perhaps some secret that the GF KOC blows (but it looks like it doesn't). I guess, I might need someone with a strong opinion about this to lead my decision.
My head hurts from all this thinking.

If you have the money to spare the ASC is definitely the best GF controller on the block, I'm sure most people who've used both would agree with me. I've heard stories of sticky buttons, but I've never had a single problem with it myself.

Total Tokens: 3,683.18 Donate Tokens | I think I read somewhere that V only has 3 preview songs that made it into V2, and Masterpiece Silver only used songs that came in arcade releases after V2 (right)?
So... Instead of waiting, I decide to screw things up a bit and without further ado, I present my next purchase - all from play-asia. The Big Sexy: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-j7a-50-13-71-...-165b-4-6.html
Some "V5" (sorry) action: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-j7a-50-13-71-...0-z4f-4-6.html
And V2 as well so V doesn't get too lonely without its older brother: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-j7a-50-13-71-...-1kyz-4-6.html
This is what happens when you get impatient, folks. :P
$378.80 before shipping. Doesn't sound too bad.... that is... until I hit shipping.
I got raped by shipping. I am paying $438.50 total. It is a 1-4 day shipping, so not including today (which is almost over), it will be a nice gamble if I happen to recieve this on Friday. I actually have to send in my copy of Masterpiece Silver because the one I have now is damaged. So we will see what I get back first.

Total Tokens: 48,473.33 Donate Tokens | As many people have already mentioned, the KOC is a good, cheap alternative to the ASC. I personally have both the KOC and an even cheaper third party controller (six buttons, waow!)
The KOC's fret buttons work fine, albeit somewhat sticky at times... I've worn in my controller quite a bit, so the pick is now quite loose. As a result, my accuracy is totally shot... I mean, a C for Over There? -_-ll
On the other hand... the cheap-shit third party controller's fret buttons stick even more. The pick is even looser than my KOC's pick, but... it's surprisingly accurate, although I now have to push the pick to its extremities for it to register. I kind of miss being able to barely wiggle it for hyper-picking, but I guess that this handicap helps me build accuracy... heh
IMHO nothing's better than popping dollars into the actual machine, though XD

I so want it right now. I hope it is significantly better than the KOC. Perhaps I should ask why/how much is it better than the KOC and how much more does it "own"? Get me excited.

Total Tokens: 3,683.18 Donate Tokens | I recieved it today. I will have the PS2 to myself later tonight, so I will have roughly 8 hours to test out the ASC and V and V2, but I have a question.
On my first day with the ASC, the blue button sometimes makes a squeaky noise if you push it on its side - it's like you can feel the edges of the button rubbing on the grooves. This has only happened a couple times when I played, but should I be concerned about this?
I know someone mentioned the controller plays WAY differently than when you first get it (after breaking it in and such), but.... I was just kind of hoping it would work perfectly. Perhaps because it was out in the cold for an hour (in its box) when UPS left it @ my door. :wonder:
Anyways, I like the controller. It is THICK, and though the pick is stiff, I'm amazed at how silent and "smooth" it moves. I will enjoy breaking it in, but someone who has experience with these controllers please tell me if I should be worrying about this squeak thing! I got it from play-asia, and returning the bastard would cost way too much (they are in HONG KONG).

It doesn't seem to slow down its movement, though. I don't think it really hurts anything.
