Today was my first time seeing a keyboardmania keyboard.
Hi, today I was at a used bookstore, which happens to have used movies, cd's and video games and video game equipment.
I saw this and noticed it's cord is usb. I instantly wondered if it would be recognized in windows xp as a midi keyboard and if there were any programs specifically written for this keyboard besides the game which at this point I know nothing about.
I did read one post that said there is a pc version of the video game for the ps2 and that you can edit songs, enter the notes and it will highlight the keyboard and you can play along to learn songs. Is this true? Is the game available as a free download?
Could someone give me a little more info about this, this item seems really cool and although there were two at that shop for 5000yen each ($50), I am already wondering if I should be regretting picking one up even though I don't know anything about it yet. It seems like too good of a thing to have not splurged on instantly. I'm comtemplating buying one in the morning. HAHAHA
I just hope it can at the very least be used as a basic midi keyboard. But I like the idea of the lightup keys song learning.
Dude, I recommend that you post stuff like this in the "Guitar Freaks - Drum Mania - Keyboard Mania" boards. I know I'm not a moderator, but I'm just giving you a heads up.

As BemaniJhoto 7.5 said this is the Beatmania forum and this should be posted in the Keyboardmania forum but anyway.
I don't play Keybordmania myself but I'm sure that there is a simulator called DoReMi or DoReMimania. As far as I know it is very easy to make simfiles from any song by converting it to Midi or by using a program that turns any Midi file into a file that can be esily read.
You don't seem to know how Keyboardmania works. I suggest going to Youtube and look some videos to get an idea. Basically notes (Square blocks) fall and when they reach a red line you must play that note in order to make the song. That means that you play by looking at an automatic partiture not by lighted keys. I doubt that the Keyboardmania keyboard (sic) has lighted keys but if you ask me (You shouldn't) I think it is better to follow an automatic partiture than lighted keys.
It looks really easy to make any file so if you think you will like to play Keyboardmania I think it is worth it. Note that the sound produced in the game depends of the Midi imput and is very, well...Midi-like. If you don't know what I mean check Youtube. (Youtube is the solution to all problems )
So I think that's all. See you.
Sorry,
I thought it was called beatmania and then when I looked at the picture I was posting it was Keyboardmania and I forgot to change forums.
My appologies.
Thanks for all the fast replies.
I will repost this in the Keyboardmania section.
I looked into this a while ago as I still have yet to play Keyboardmania properly. There is a sim called DoReMi which is very good but unfortunately, if you want to use the KBM KOC for it, the only driver that exists is for win98! Therefore, unless you are still running that OS, then I do not think it is possible to use the controller as a midi controller on a PC. And the only normal midi keyboard that is compatible with the game (only the second one as I understand), is a Yamaha keyboard that is quite difficult to find maybe.
I suggest that you pick up that bundle either way (or you can buy it for me ) and play on a PS2. If you want to try out DoReMi on a PC, the only real way is to purchase a separate midi keyboard. Or use win98 of course. And that is provided you can find that driver, I never looked as no win98 here
2) This will not work as a PC/MIDI keyboard, there are no working drivers for it.
3) The keys do not light up. That is for the "Yamaha Edition" of Keyboardmania made for PCs designed exclusively for those deluxe Yamaha full-sized keyboards.

As far as "deluxe" Yamaha keyboards go, is it supposed to work with any light-up Yamaha keyboard, or only a specific model? I know there are several models that have the light-up keys to teach you how to play.

Well, the game was always bundled with one specific model of Yamaha keyboard (EZ-250i) so I don't know whether or not it will even work with other models.
