My friend has played some GFDM at my house and wants to get into it. The problem is, I can't remember which website I bought my flip top from. Can anyone reccomend a reputable website to buy them? Another friend of mine sent money to a site for one once, it never came, and they never refunded him. =\

As far as flip tops go, it's hazy ground, since many people get flip tops for playing legitly* bought import games. I'd still prefer it not here, though. ;x

* - lol is that a word? ^^ | Oh, we're not allowed to talk about fliptops? I don't even think of them as pirating tools anymore with all the imports. I can see why you wouldn't be able to answer though. My appologies.

Marketplace Rating: 23 | I'm also planning on getting into drummania/guitarfreaks.
I think I will probably go for Masterpiece Silver since it seems to be the cheapest and aside from a supposedly annoying unlock system, I heard the songlist was pretty good.
I've seen the Konami DM controller, and it looks disguisting. I cant see myself enjoying playing on that, especially since I used to play at my arcade before they closed down. I'm looking into getting a DTX set, since I've played them at Guitar Center. They're gorgeous, but I have a music production question: Can I use different sound packs, or even load samples/sounds via midi to my DTX drums (The same way I can with my keyboards)? For example, could I go from playing rock drums to gabba sounds? I dont mean play different sounds during play with DM, I mean, by itself. Thats my biggest concern because if Im going to buy a good electro drumset, I want to be able to use it for my music, and if its compatible with DM, then all the better.
As for GuitarFreaks, I also have some questions: How are the official controllers? Are they worth picking up, or should I buy a GH controller and put up with the annoying switching in/out of a regular controller? Also, how much are the ASC's, and where could I find them? And finally, is getting an ASC worth it? I dont know, at least IIDX and DDR have significant differences between regular controllers and ASC's. The GF ASC just looks like its metal, and thats it. Is there anything else different about it?
Thanks everyone
PS: YouTube - Guitar Freaks - Concertino in Blue holy fucking shit. Does Japan hold tourneys like this? I cant imagine how much more motivation I would have to get godlike at these bemani games if this is how Japan treats them.

Is there anything else different about it? | The ASC is the best controller for Guitarfreaks. The buttons have a different throw and the spacing is wider than the Official Controller. The pick has more throw than the KOC as well. I made sure to buy one when I started GF last March, and I've never regretted the decision. It's going to cost you around $300 for the ASC after shipping. Play-Asia is still sold out/backordered, but NCSX still has them. Don't worry, they don't charge much for shipping within the US, so it balances out to about Play-Asia's final price after shipping.
My friend has a GFKOC, and I played on it a few times. It's definitely an OK controller if you don't want to spend the $300 for the GFASC, and I would recommend it over using a Guitar Hero Controller. Quote:

I think they just used the e-amuse data to compile the top players from different regions, and invited them to a tournament of sorts where they got to film a bunch of Tatsujin videos. That clip specifically is from the DVD released by Konami (there are two: one has IIDX and Pop'n, the other has GF and DM). They are worth a watch, but each tournament only has about 30 minutes of footage on the DVD.
