What do you need to upgrade a 11th+ mix?

Been trying to search for this on the net, but I can't seem to locate it.

What would you need to upgrade an 11th mix and up? I know you would need the new hardware for V.

But if upgrading for V2 would you just need the cds/dvds or that you would acquire? Or is there a cart or security plug or something?

V1-3 require brand new hardware if you're upping from pre-12th (or pre-11th for DM/PF). If you don't have the new hardware, you're going to have to do some mighty-fine searching, as Konami hasn't offered the new hardware since V2 (unless I missed the selling of kits with V3).

I was also told for GF, V1-3 require the side speakers, but don't quote me on that.

If you're upgrading within the V series (V1-V2 or V3 or V2-V3), I believe all you need is the upgrade DVD and dongle, but don't quote me on that. I don't believe there was a new HDD or anything.

I'm sure GF V1-3 does not need the side speakers, my local arcade has V3 but don't have the side speakers and it sounds really bad.
