Default What drumsticks do you prefer?

Hm, I finally decided to get drumsticks today. What kind do you prefer?

I got Vic Firth 7A's (Hickory sticks, "American Classic")

I love the lighter sticks, but what kind you guys own?

I used to use Vic Firth Sheila E.'s until someone broke them, but at BemaniFest I got to try Random's Dave Weckl (I'm assuming that's what sticks they are; they're the brown lacquered ones) sticks and they're really nice in weight and feel. I usually play with marching sticks or relatively heavy concert sticks, but for a game like DM it's important to not strain your wrists while playing. I would suggest a medium weight stick to start out; if the sticks are too light you also strain yourself trying to get the rebound. Vic Firth American Classic 5A's are probably fine for most people.

Ah, well, what are really the full drawbacks from lighter sticks?

I mean, I wanted to get the lighter because my hand (it's not my wrist for some reason) gets tired and sore easy from doing faster songs like Ancient Breeze (with the long cymbal ride at the begining). I was guessing it was because of the 5A~B weight (I've used both) bouncing against my hand. Also, I heard it's easier to roll with lighter sticks

Maybe you oughta opt for semi-heavy sticks to better control the rebound of the stick. The added weight also helps in registering the pad triggers(depends how good your pads are tho). Trick there is to use a bit of your fingers and not just wrist alone.

I like em a bit heavier than 5As, which seems to be most peoples default choice.

Ignore the practice pad.

I originally used the ones on the right, then abandonded them for the left ones.

Both were given to me by my dad, since his old friend from highschool owns a music store.

I can't tell the brand, but I think the size looks like 7A. Can you take closeups?

The ones on the right are definitely Pro-Marks.

I use the exact same. My arms get pretty tired easily, so anything heavy wears me out too fast to be practical.

After being used to 2B sticks in marching band, 7A sticks are just way too light for me. Feels like I have to hit much harder to get the same effect as heavier sticks. The Zildjian 5A (or 5B, I can't remember which) hickory sticks (the ones painted black) are my favorite for DrumMania. They're heavy enough to do the work for you, and light enough so that you don't get tired as easily.

Not necessarily related but i suggest you guys play with heavy sticks (default arcade sticks will do) on your first round then switch to your standard pair. Sticks feel so ~light~ . This might help you with your performance, who knows

I use 7As, but the arcade pads aren't exactly sensitive enough D:

Vater 5A's work well for me, but I'm currently using some Zildjian jazz-style sticks (I don't know the precise spec of them).

I'm using Promark 7As currently. Before that I was using Vic Firth sticks, but I can't remember what type.

I used to use Zildjian 5A dipsticks, but although they give better grip, they give more blisters too.
Then I switched to Akira signature Vic Firths 3As, which give good grip, and lesser blisters.
Finally I have settled on occasionally switching between my Promark 5As and my Yoshiki signature TAMA 3Bs for playing DM.
