Changing SMZIP to ZIP

I have been noticing that this has been a frequent inquiry, so for those who don't know, here's how:

Now that you packed the song to a SMZIP package, you have been wondering how can you convert this to a ZIP.

The SMZIP format is actually a ZIP file that contains the automated instructions so that it can be installed to Stepmania, hence, to convert a SMZIP file to a ZIP file...

Simply rename the SMZIP extension to ZIP so it can be a ZIP file

to see the file extension just in case you can't see it,

in your windows Explorer, choose Tools then Folder Options

Choose the View tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"



now you can freely rename the file

As long as you can open zip files, I don't see why OS matters.

I could've sworn that you could open an SMZIP file with just WinZIP. It works just the same.

It's a little easier too.

7-Zip File Manager can also change extension file types, but your method may be the easiest.

It's for the purpose of uploading it into the simfile database, not the general file usage

It might just be my computer, but this doesn't work for my computer. Its a Windows Vista and when I go to the windows explorer, I don't have the tools option on mine or the folder one. So, is there any way that I can do it a different way? Thank you.

I opened internet explroer, went to tools, but I didn't see the "Folder Options" thing. Now whatta I do?

If it is hidden, Organize>Folder Options

If it is greyed out, there's a probability that your PC is infected.

Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer.
