Read up a few posts. Keith just said that he's probably going to go by extension from now on instead of mime type.

The database now looks at the extensions instead of the MIME type. If anyone is having problems with it let me know.

I uploaded a new simfile just before.

It gave me the error "can only upload zip file, you uploaded 'sm.' " when clearly I put each one in the correct place.

It still uploaded the simfile but I cant get the stepcharts for it to work, soon as I try to edit it and upload a new dwi/sm I get the same error, even tho im not editing the zip at all, weird.

I downloaded my simfile and it seemed ok, hopefully thats still works.

Keith made a change to the upload type and it goes by extension now, apparently the change carried over into where the DWI's and SM's are uploaded for the parser. I've let him know about it, and hopefully he will take care of the issue soon.

Thanks for reporting the bugs as they come in guys, you're helping to make the site as smooth as possible.

Hehe, np. Btw, you think it had an effect on the Forum Shop too? Take a look in here.

I try to upload my sim files and i know i put everything in the right place but either the site claims its done about 5 minutes after hitting submit (which cant possibly be right on a 56k dialup connection) or I get an error message. I had this problem on 6.0 once I moved my files to a laptop, but realized that it was because I thought my files were zipped when they werent. But since 7.0s gone up its been doing it again.

...that was helpful, quoting the same thing you did in your last post.

What I think might be the issue, though, as I see the error message more clearly, is that the database is getting uppity about capitalization. (Don't laugh. I know more than one server that will fail to bring up a "filename.jpg" in its links because the copy on the server is "filename.JPG".) Try altering one of the "bad" .zips to have an all lowercase ending and see if that works.

Most anything *NIX is very particular about capitalization. You can have three files on your hard drive named the same thing, but if they're capitalized differently, then they are different files. TEST.txt is not the same as test.txt or Test.txt.

Good catch. It is considered standard to have all lower-case extensions, though, so as of now, there's technically nothing wrong with the system, if we're going by standards. Since, if everything followed the established standards, we wouldn't be having this problem. However, there are programs and people who either aren't aware of the standards, or they just don't like to follow them. Whatever.
